Was yours delivered to a business or residential address? My understanding is that the former got 1030 while the latter got 3 pm. I'm in the latter group and still waiting although it's 3:13 pdt here

I got mine at 9am. Residential.

Oh the horror of having to wait until 5pm to get your phone delivered. Still beats the hell out of standing in line for hours. Sure, you could try walking into a corporate cellular store and picking one up but there's no guarantee that will get you a phone on launch day.

True. Maybe my friends and family were extremely lucky. But they were in and out in less than an hour. I would take that any day over waiting until 7PM which it's looking like it is going to be.

I got a good sleep last night and had my phone delivered around noon via Fedex.

Even if I got my phone next week, I would've still been glad not to stand in line.

That' was 100% my thought process too. But I'm still sitting here phoneless. This is such a first world problem. Lol

I received my phone aroudn 1PM in the afternoon. I chose delivery not becuase I thought I was going to win a race against thsoe who stood in line. I did it for the reasosn I mentioned. If I had to wait until the very end of the day to receive it, it would still be better than waiting in line IMO.

I'll never preorder again. Did it the last two years and both times I had to cancel due to backorder hell. Stuck in limbo for no apparent reason even though I ordered early and was promised launch day delivery.

Last year I walked into an AT&T store and picked it up after work. Today I walked into the Apple store at around noon. Only about half an hour wait. The Apple stores have hundreds in stock and more arriving every day. Far easier than this preorder crap and arguing with the CSR drones.

The idea that you have to wait in line overnight or worse is simply not true these days. Apple has plenty in stock.

Not to mention you can inspect your phone before leaving. If you don't and have an issue, you will be waiting in line for your Genius Bar appointment.

Did you order from the Apple Store? Everyone I know who ordered at 3am from the Apple Store was guaranteed delivery before 10:30am today. Mine arrived at 9:30am. I preordered my 4s through the Verizon site and it didn't arrive until the evening of the launch day. I learned to always order through the Apple Store.

Wrong. I ordered mine through apple store as did my wife and we ordered 20mins after midnight. From day one it's said 9/21 by 3:00PM.

----------

If people pre order they should get them the day before. :D

Understood. Good point.

VS

Waiting several hours in a line with the sun blazing down on me...

I went to a Verizon store and waited about 30min with 50 people in line (def no "blazing sun", very nice weather in Houston this morning). Out a little after 8am, then straight into work for a couple friday meetings. I think most people who experienced those really long lines were apple store visits from what Ive heard from friends and read on this site.

I ordered from the Apple store at midnight and still don't have mine. Ups said by 3 and they've already missed that deadline

ditto. NEVER AGAIN. Only benefit preordering is to pad Apples stats. Who cares if you sold 2 million IF THE PEOPLE WHO ORDERED THEM HAVE TO WAIT ALL FREAKING DAY.

Mine says that its out on the fedex delivery truck but the estimated delivery date changed from the 21st to the 24th. Could this be a glitch? or am i screwed?

In the future with ups, once the package reaches the hub, which you'll know by seeing your city show up a second time in the list which means it made it from the airport in your city to the actual ups hub... Log into myups.com and select change delivery... Then select request hold for pickup... Don't worry about the date it shows, either... Then go back in to "change delivery" and change it to... "I need it today" which will log it as a will call pickup. The delivery will be pulled from going to the truck and you can pick it up that following day as early as they open up. That's what I did with my iPhone and I picked it up at 9:30am... Got the tip from reading the forums here. Sorry, hope it arrives soon!!

I thought I was alone in saying waiting in line is better. I was indoors in a mall with wifi access sitting on carpet talking to other apple fans. Yeah it took two hours of my time but I was home by 9:00 am with a new iphone

No need to stand in line. I went to a store in the hood.. They had quite a few in stock..

This wasn't an i something purchase, but I once had an amazon order delivery time change to the next business day when out for delivery. I called and they said it was because the driver wasn't able to make all deliveries that day for whatever reason.

well that sucks, im gonna call and see if i can pick it up. I sold my phone and im stuck without a phone

Walked into the ATT store at 5:00pm and walked out with a shiny new 32gb iphone 5 30 minutes later : ). Silly pre-orderers

The line is definitely the way to go. Forget pre ordering, forget camping a week ahead, forget Walmart and all the other vendors. Just jump in line when the doors open.

I ordered online, missed it. Went to 2 other vendors including Walmart to pre order. None had stock. I got stressed out that it would take forever at the apple store since people were camping since Monday. I saw shipping times on the website at 3-4 weeks. I was sure they ran out for sure.

I said f it and went to my local apple store inside a mall anyway. There were 50 ahead of me. The employees said this is the weakest launch they've seen. Was out with my brand new phone in 1.5 hrs. Done deal. Easy peasy. And I bet some are sitting at home waiting for oct deliveries

I preordered one via Verizon that shipped Fedex, my brother wanted one as well so I waited in line for him since he had to work and I didn't start class until 330pm.

Well, I got there around 530, Verizon store opened up at 8am.

I will absolutely never wait that long again. The people in the line are obnoxious, it was cold, I was tired, and I sure as hell had better things to do.

My pre order from FedEx came around 12pm, but it really just depends on the routes FedEx and UPS have. USUALLY FedEx comes before 10AM, and UPS comes around 530-630pm for me. I have friends who are the opposite (I order tons of stuff online and they are shipped both ways).

So sorry it sucks that you're later on in the UPS route, but don't say UPS sucks because of that. I wish I wouldn't of waited in that damn line.

I have several friends and family that have been enjoying their iPhone 5 all day. But me? The iPhone and gadget fanatic? The one that was up at 3AM pre ordering? I'm still waiting on UPS. Anyone else think standing in line is the way to go?

What is the difference on if you're walking out of a store at 9 a.m. with a new iPhone vs. 5 or 6 p.m. that same day?

I just don't get it...

The difference isn't huge. But now it's 7PM and I want it! :) Plus I could have done so many other things today but instead I have been sitting around to make sure I didn't miss delivery.
