I don't recall about the iPhone rumors specifically but there always seems to be a lot of rumors, a lot of fake photos, and a lot of so-called photoshop experts disproving photos... some of which turn out to be real (see: Unibody photos).

Best thing to do is take all rumors with a grain of salt, don't go in expecting anything specific and just let yourself be pleasantly surprised with whatever turns out to be real.

13 hours to go.

I agree, however this year it was strange because every tech blog and talking head on the internet had an "expert" or "some reliable person on the inside" giving out an extremely diverse set of rumors.

you need to realize that all these tech blogs make money by drawing traffic to their site from these so-called "rumors". it is very easy to sucker people in and get photoshopped iphone spy picks reposted all around the internet.

It seems strange to me how last year, the iPhone 3G features were locked down a week before WWDC. 3G, GPS a plastic back...even the colors of black and white where known..this time, nothing of the sort.

That's Monday morning quarterbacking, but we didn't know until announcement of iPhone 3G if the leaked glossy plastic back photos were in fact authentic.

All I know is that my dad does taxes for an ex apple employee (he retired SUPER early) and he still has ties inside apple. He has confirmed the faster network speeds. 3.5 or whatever...

I think it's safe to say that tomorrow's iPhone upgrade will be substantial. With the competitive Pre now in the wild and technology always advancing, they'd be stupid not to make it worth something.

I don't think the Pre will be competitive. Everything I've read since the release is.. garbage, garbage, garbage. Almost no lines of people waiting for it. Bad screens, system shutdowns, overheating.. all kinds of issues. On top of that, I've seen estimates that the Pre cost as much as $170 to build. If that isn't enough, a release that falls directly between E3 and WWDC.. WTF are they thinking?

While that's true, you're talking about the material of the back of the phone. I don't know how interesting or surprising that is to the average person.

last year was easy because people knew Apple had to add 3G and GPS to keep up (or catch up). This year a lot of things have been hinted at with 3.0. I think Apple either keeps it very minimal, or blows everyone out of the water. I don't think there will be a middle ground.

It'll be interesting to see if the Pre really competes with the iPhone, but i do hope it will be successful with people already on Sprint.

Were you on these boards when both iPhones were released? Many of the threads were identical.

Just an idea

Maybe there is not gonna be an iPhone tomorrow. Think about it. Phil mainly deals with Mac software so he would be good at talking about Snow Leopard. iPhone = Steve Jobs' comeback. Though I might be wrong (Trust me I'm praying I am wrong :p)

If you go back and look at those leaked photos, especially compared to the one's this time around, it obvious they are real. Multiple angles, no blur ect. More then one picture...

If you don't believe me, search the forums.

And don't forget, because it seems many of you already forgotten. Jobs is scheduled for the late June return. If he is the person to introduce these new phones, as he was the man to do it all this time, Apple is likely gonna schedule another special event late June to introduce the new iphones along with Steve's return. This has been discussed by many prominent analysts. It dawns on the idea that WWDC is an event about SOFTWARE not hardware. It won't be surprising to see no new iphone hardware tomorrow but a release of a special event date which we would all know what it will be about.

Either the new iphone will not revolve on anything extreme if it does get announced tomorrow or it will be the special event date.
Also, I don't see the front facing camera happening. It's still too premature in the cell phone and network development department to release a fully functioning capable video messaging in North America.

Phill Schiller delivering Keynote

Looks like Phil Schiller will be delivering the Keynote tomorrow morning:

The Apple Worldwide Developers Conference 2009 will kick off with a keynote address on Monday, June 8 at 10:00 a.m. A team of Apple executives, led by Phillip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, will deliver the keynote address.

Lets hope that he announces Steve is back and then hands over the mic and clicker so he can deliver the Keynote!!!

Apple still has a lot to do in terms of "catching up". Granted, the iPhone is a feat in itself and the media aspect of it is phenomenal (even though it's just an iPod), but as a phone that is out to compete with the BlackBerrys, Nokias, etc. it needs to do more. I can't even sync Notes, dammit, without some 3rd party app.

If there is a new iPhone come back here about a week after it's up for sale.

The first 2 days are generally "it's SOOOOO beautiful *photos* it does this and that sooo well, I'm soooo happy, Apple has topped themselves/are unbeatable" etc etc then about a week later the shine's worn off and people are disappointed or someone's broken it, or a bit's fallen off or there's dead pixels and then that's us set for the rest of the year.

And that's called Monday morning quarterbacking. Someone could say after the next iPhone is announced go back and look at the leaked bezel and it's obvious it's real (not saying it is, just an example), but at this point we simply don't know, just as we didn't know for certain about the glossy back before iPhone 3G announcement.
