Oooh. I completely forgot about Beetlejuice! Shudder, so creepy yet cool.

Yep, it was a fun movie - man, I feel old though, that came out a looong time ago and it doesn't really seem like it! ;)

"Shake, Shake - Shake seniora, shake your body line. Work, Work, Work seniora, work it all the time! Come on now ..."

Yeah that was a great movie. Sure didnt seem that long ago. But great movies shouldnt make you feel old but young again, everyone remembers them. ;)

That's a good way to look at things. :)

Tim Burton & Christopher Nlan

Burton was, and is overrated. Case in point. Planet of the Apes.

I agree that Batman looks dated now but damnit, I loved Planet Of The Apes. The whole movie was well thought out and the actors put a lot of love into it. Epic science fiction is one genre that Tim Burton is good at, vigilante adventures is one that he is not.

Christopher Nolan has only made three films so far but I would say that he specializes in thrillers about inner turmoil. Batman Begins was about Bruce Wayne exploring his soul and finding his inner Batman. I imagine that the next film will be about a villain's descent into madness and Batman's hand in it.

Well put, I'm looking forward to the sequel. And as I stated earlier in this thread, Memento is one of my all-time favorite movies - Nolan is indeed a master at what he does.

God this movie sucks.

The fight scenes are shot entirely too close.. you can't even tell what's happening.. Nolan seems to think he can skip choreography if he shoots it tight... they're not even watchable.

Many scenes were ruined with just one line... "Nice coat." and such.

Do yourself a favor and go rent American Psycho... skip this ****fest.

well im going to go to see it today.. the reviews on yahoo seem really good.. ever since forever i have been hoping for a batman that is up to par with the comic super hero..

I'm sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the movie. Of course, you're entitled to your opinions, and each person has their different likes and dislikes, however as you can see from not only this Forum, but probably 90% of the reviews out there, you're definitely in the minority in not liking this movie. Nonetheless, if you didn't like it, you didn't like it, which is fair enough!

One word of constructive criticism though - using simplistic terms such as "this movie sucks" and profanity-including terms like "@#$%fest" makes your viewpoint a little less likely to be taken seriously. So if you would care to elaborate with a few more constructive comments and some additional thought, I'd appreciate hearing some more feedback on your experience of the film. :)

And with specific regards to the fight scenes, that was one of the things I loved most about the movie. Everything was so fast-paced, it really captured the moment and the true feeling, it was very well done in my opinion. You couldn't see what was going on all the time, which left things up to you imagination (heaven forbid the Director asks us to use our imaginations! ;)) and I think it was suitable since Batman is essentially a ninja, and ninja are supposed to be quick, stealthy and unseen. Sometimes what you don't see is more effective and powerful than what you do see. And with the underlying theme of fear throughout the movie, I think this was an excellent device used by Nolan to manifest this. But hey, again, everyone has their personal preferences.

Thanks for sharing your differing viewpoint, it's what keeps the Forums unbiased and diverse. :)

Please let us know what you think of it! If you like the dark comics and the 1989 movie I think you'll enjoy this one.

Fair enough, just wanted to make sure a proper comparison was being carried out. ;) Ironically, I remember the last 2 Batman movies more because of Schumacher than the actual actors, just since he did such a good job at tainting and destroying the series... ;)

Thank god for Nolan!

i will say yes this one was much better than those two *shudders* But i just don't think they were as good as the Burton ones.
But i really really liked Liam Neeson, two movies in a row i have loved him in, Kingdom of Heaven and now Batman

Yes, it ranks real close with the Burton movies in my books as well. Perhaps it's just a "recency effect", but I liked Begins more - perhaps I need to see Batman and Batman Returns again though to properly judge, as I haven't seen them in a while. ;)

Nah, M Jackson is just way too skinny; Batman might think he'll eat'em. Still he is scary looking, in an un-holy way. :D

Man, My son is bugging me to buy the toy tank-mobile. It just looks cheap, and he is rough with his toys.

I feel like somehting is missing

Why not bring back jack? yes he's old, but cmon, look at arnie in T3, makeup can do alot, and I really really enjoyed Jack as Batman, he had the two important elements, the mobster side, and the joker side, remember, he is a nemesis, he needs to be the opposite of batman, thats why the scarecrow is good.

Yah, they don't make toys like they used to. I was fortunate to grow up with Transformers (the originals and best!), GI Joe, Masters of the Universe, Star Wars, Super Powers - classic toys! Still have boxes of them around too, sounds like they're probably worth something! ;)

I was sort of a tomboy growing up so I begged to have a trnasformer. I would watch all the boys doing their thing, and I thought it looked so fun! Then I tried... :( I couldn't get the darn thing to transform!!! I claimed it was broken, but I felt my heart break into a million pieces when a boy transformed my toy in no time. Sigh. Plus, I hurt my finger... tough plastic.

Aw, I feel for ya, that's rough!

Yep, they made toys back then pretty tough. Man, the wars I put my GI Joes through, and they still lasted... ;)

And yes, transforming was a skilled art - great for hand eye coordination though, and memory/pattern recognition to remember how it's supposed to look, what order to do things in, etc. I betcha I could still transform my old ones to this day - it's just like riding a bike, you never forget - that, and that blasted Rubik's Cube.

Haha. Psst, can ya keep a secret? One of my childhood guy friends, well, when we were kids, he wouldn't share his GI Joe's w/ me, I mean, just during the play time and boy did that get me riled up... So when he managed to separate the limbs from the main torso, I sneakily stole the right arm. Snicker. Hyuk hyuk hyuk. He let me play w/ the "busted" GI Joe... I promptly snapped that arm back in and off I went playing to my heart's content.

I thought the movie really ****ing sucked. And I mean a lot.
I'm not going to sit here and list all the things that ****ing sucked about it.

I may be in the minority but... (looks around), what forum are we in?

Actually, that's why Shard mentioned that you are in the minority not just here... but as well as outside, critics' reviews, and other general population's reviews.

I just saw the movie and i loved it! It seems like you could see it happening in real life to me in a way, which i think is pretty cool. I also really like how the movie ended... bring on the joker.

FREAKIN' AWESOME... wow this is like batman done right... and at the end with the joker reference... wow.. its great... so i guess now if they make a new one they gotta continue after the one with arnold as mr freeze eh? hopefully if they do they pull it off good...
