So am I really the first one posting after the Razor airing?

(spoiler space)

Clearly, the best part of the whole show was the gold Cylon. By your command. Fracktacular! :D Overall, I thought it was good, if a little bit geeky-fan-service. The character development of the XO was great, and the cliffhanger at the end was really good too.

P.S. during Razor, the resumption of the regular series was pegged at March... the little snippets they showed sound quite delish.

agreed..the movie was great. hilighted some stuff, filled in some holes and really hung us to wait for the new series. interesting tidbit about starbuck from that old guy laying in the cylon human test muck. is she a cylon? she must be if the balance of human life hangs on her (according to the old dude)....very interesting...

So basically, the way they're setting up the plotline in part is, who's the last of the Cylons, right? And the runners currently are Roslin, Starbuck, and Baltar?

The statement that the hybrid made -- something like "all these things have happened before and will happen again" -- is ambiguous, but it was repeated several times, so I'm guessing it'll become important in the next season.

I'm really excited about the continuing plot surrounding Baltar and Caprica. So now there's at least one more tryst between a Cylon and a human, although it's not clear if she loved Cain like Caprica loves Baltar. But remember, Caprica *sees* Baltar in her head. I want them to pick that thread back up!

Bash me down if I'm wrong but this is one of the fundamental parts of BSG, I'm quite sure this has been stated throughout the whole series?

Anyway I (In England) couldn't wait for this to hit DVD, Satellite, Cable and BT'd it several weeks ago and can thoroughly say that I'm back on board the fair ship BSG, I won't give anything away except that when it comes out on disc I will buy it and when the fourth season airs again I will watch it with anticipation, rather than the apathy that set in for me at the end of season three.

Extremely watchable :)

Real scene setter for season 4, the whole "Do we trust what's happening?" question now implanted in the viewers' minds even if the crew take a while to catch up. And using the old BSG Cylons and Raiders was genius. Shame it wasn't an old style cheeseburger Basestar though.

I thought it was fine. I was expecting a little more to further the ongoing arc, but the episode was mostly showing up events we already knew about and then wrapping them around a bit of old-fashioned prophecy. I guess that's fine.

The older model cylons were done quite well. Did anyone else think that young Adama somehow nailed Olmos's mannerisms? A real bravo to him for making that convincing.

Had some beef with some of the cliched plot points, such as Lee picking out an XO from "the other side," and the textbook sacrifice at the end. I wasn't too annoyed since they backed those decisions up, but as a "flashback" episode, there was very little to it that was genuinely fresh. It makes me want to sock Adama every time he comes up with a new memory from the old days, such as abandoning that pilot of his on the recon mission to the cylon border, or this thing about the hybrid.

When they say that the hybrid was an 'evolutionary dead end' and was abandoned, I guess they didn't mean that they stopped using them (because of our glimpse of them on the basestar in S3). Bit confusing.

Anyway... no real complaints. Still, I hope Moore writes all 20 episodes of season 4 himself. :p

Enjoyed the hell outta Razor. What other show is gonna throw the fans a bone like that? Certainly not Lost, but I digress. Do you think the story of Razor will somehow play-out in season 4? Of course the hybrids message about Starbuck will somehow come into play, but what about the Pegasus and her crew? I can't see how they'd use any of that back story to further the plot any more than it already has in Season 3. Having said that though, what was the point of showing us this story? It's gotta mean something but I can't figure out what. Any ideas?

Well, besides what the Hybrid said, the Guardians themselves may come back... there have already been several times when dissension among the Cylons has come up as an issue. But also, there are still living Pegasus crew members, if not a lot of their leadership, so knowing where they came from might have something to do with future plotlines concerning them....

Didn't the Guardians get nuked? I read it as the bomb finished the Guardians and their prized Hybrid. Also, we didn't get any real insight on any of the surviving Pegasus crew. No new characters were introduced that would seem to play out. Maybe it was just a story?

It seemed like they only took out the one ship with a hybrid in it before they left. They had several basestars full of old-school Cylons, didn't they? I could go back and watch it... like I need an excuse. :D

Aliens homage

Something that struck me as I was watching "Razor." There was a distinct homage to "Aliens." The complaining marine is named Hudson, another is Frost, and the sound fx guy definitely threw in the sound of the Smart Gun firing in the hallways, especially when the Guardians were dragging that one guy off.

A good show, now I wished that they hadn't killed Caine off so quickly, I would have liked her edges to show more gradually, until we finally realized she was a nutcase. That story could have filled a good chunk of the season, but was limited to only a few episodes. That's actually my one complaint of the writing, they seem very impatient to move on to the next story rather than letting them simmer slowly like they did in the first season. Boomer's change from atypical pilot to Cylon assassin was well-handled, but other story lines have passed too quickly.
Check that, the whole Lee & Starbuck love quadrangle was given too much time.

I can't tell if it's intentional, but the heavy doors opening and closing at the beginning of the ep. also sound frighteningly similar to the holodeck doors on Next Gen. Homage or stock audio?

Good Point. I was assuming that the bomb finished them off, and that there was only one hybrid. And you know what they say about assuming... I erased it from the DVR so I can't check. Bad idea on my part. So, I guess there's a possibility the Guardians could return in Season 4, albiet with one less ship and minus the broken record, the broken record, the broken record, the broken record...;)

I enjoyed it a lot. Well, most of what I saw. Missed the beginning and end. Had to get some sleep at 2am.

Thought that it was probably a little short. Really enjoyed the flashbacks to Admiral Cain and the crew of the Pegasus. Loved the introduction of the gold cylon and "By your command" line.

Was going to BT it but decided to wait until after the DVD w/the missing scenes. By then I will probably buy it at a reasonable price.

or just google news it

Hopefully their will be a legal way of watching it, hulu or universal going back to itunes:eek:

Boy, Galactica has been shown in an astonishing variety of episodic formats. We've got the miniseries, the 13 episode series, the 20 episode series, the webisode, the TV movie, and now half-hour serials. Kind of neat, actually. It does sort of give the impression, though, that the show still hasn't hit a real stride in terms of presentation.

EDIT: Nevermind! It looks like the half-hour shows are catch-up documentaries about the history of the franchise.

"OH MY GODS!" This is why my wife hates the show and I cringe while I watch it. That "frackin" word is soooooo worn out and stupid. I really wish they would just cuss for real or drop it all together. Also, the stupid dumarses that are in love with cylons need to die. Are they that hard up for chicks in space? Aside from that the show rocks.

The imaginary Six in my computer room just flicked you the bird.

Hey, don't blame me, I didn't do it. But just be careful, you never know who might be a Cylon. Your wife's spine hasn't been known to glow red, has it? ;) :D

Lol! He's been too busy focusing on the front like Gaius has. Same here.

GOOD news! I was starting to wonder about my favorite show; but The Sarah Connor Chronicles is doing just fine as a worthy substitute. IF show times conflict Sarah gets the kick!

MikeC also commented on this, but I had missed it before. The use of the word "frak" on BSG is genius.

Think of it, they've taken the most useful word in the English language and altered it just enough so that it can be used constantly.

Fraking MotherFraker. Oh Frak. What the frak is wrong? Frakly my dear.

Genius. ;)

Quite true.

IIRC, I think that was a ploy on the part of Mr. Larson to get around the frakking censors, back in the day. However, some people think it's all a load of felgercarb, but it works for me.

Actually, I'm working on a series of my own relating to all of this. Well, to TOS BSG anyhow. No chapters posted yet, but you're all welcome to look at the site as it thus far exists and comment: ArmageddonTheSeries.dyndns.org. Mind you, I don't have any mad l33t hacker skillz when it comes to doing web page design, so don't expect any Flash content or uber advanced HTML goodness. I simply prefer the content to be the most important reason one goes to the site, not the site itself.
