So I phone up Apple (UK), to find out they are closed. When it says on their website they are open until 10PM!!!!

I am gonna go ape on them tomorrow.

I understand the frustration of those that ordered on the first day or week of availability and will not get Tiger on time. I'd be pissed as well; just probably not as pissed...

It is strange how I was able to order from the Apple Education online store last Wednesday and I received Tiger yesterday

It's the retail store that's open until 10pm. Not the corp. phone lines...

Mine is still processing!!!! I called Apple today and they said that there is a huge shortage of Tiger DVD's and with overwhelming demand. It didn't surprise me. She said I'll probably get my copy in the middle of next week. I ordered the $10 up-to-date upgrade.

Who else is still waiting for Tiger to magically appear from thousands of miles away like the Apple Store said it would?

You can call the store on 0800 039 1010 until 10.00.

I just called and there was someone there. He couldn't help me though. Its TNTs fault apparently... its never the fault of the person who I speak to....

As I mentioned on another thread, I got my copy about two hours ago, and my order status still says Preparing Shipment, so Apple's order status system is just messed up. If you still don't get anything by later today, I'd just go pick it up at a local store, and when the copy from Apple finally arrives, return that one unopened to your local store. They should be perfectly identical, so I don't see anything wrong with doing that.

Our copy has been on the Fedex Truck since 8:06AM today, on it's way to us supposedly. I'm inclined to think they made a mistake or something. It's already half an hour past the ship time they said, and only an hour before the deadline for the day.

jW

They can be pretty late sometimes. I've had UPS show up around 6:30pm a few times.

Has anyone that isn't receiving their copy of Tiger today called and gotten their "compensation" yet?

Nope - but I will tomorrow, if they don't I will tell them that I wont accept delivery and I will just get it from a local reseller.

i'm assuming TNT is a British delivery service? named after dynamite because...deliciously quirky as always, anyhow:

I just called Apple, the person reversed the position of it arriving next monday or tuesday to it arriving TODAY the 29th by 8 pm..fed ex and ups done already made their shifts though...LOL..so now i am looking out the window waiting for a limousine i guess?

why does a strong part of me believe that tomorrow the 30th, apple representatives will still be saying that it is arriving the 29th...hmmmm

Stupid FedEx

Why the hell didn't the leave the ****ing box at the door. Now I have to go to the Fedex place. Makes me so damn mad!!!! I wish they would leave stuff at the door like UPS..... Piece of **** FedEx.....

Well, it's to prevent someone from taking your copy of Tiger from your doorstep. You definitely wouldn't want that, would you?

God that made me laugh. Steve running to my door from a black, tinted window limo with Tiger at 11 pm tonight...."I made it I made it!"

5 minutes until Tiger goes on sale all up and down the East coast...have fun everyone.

BTW, I am sure the Apple reps will be clueless tomorrow unless someone tells them a new lie to tell, since the 4/29 excuse will be gone.

:(

Yeah, neither do I, but you never know, especially since it's well-known that Tiger's coming out today.

I ordered an hour after it was announced, it sat in preparing shipment for 5 days, this morning it said it left Middleton, PA at 10am on the 28th, and now it says it is in Newark, NJ.

Mind you, I live in Rochester, NY, it is 278 miles to Newark, NJ and only 250 to my dorm. From Newark, it will have to travel an additional 338 miles to get to Rochester, with no delays. What the hell is FedEx doing?

I know a few days won't kill me, but to go almost 360 miles out of the way to ship a package? come on. Just drive the straight 250, and not the round about 616 miles.

Errm. Now according to TNT noone was home to collect Tiger today. WTF. I been home all day. They never even tried to deliver it.

Corvallis is only a ghetto if you're terrified of free spirits, wacky types, and neo-hippies. :).

Everyone should keep in mind that FedEx and UPS both deliver at least until 7:00 pm. I've received deliveries after 7:00, too. Apple paid for 2day shipping if that's what your order status said, and if it only shipped yesterday, then you'll have it by tomorrow. It may have gone out at 6:30 am yesterday morning (soon enough for 2day logically), but FedEx 2day really means 3 days from shipping in many cases.

Yes, Apple should have gotten all of their orders out by the last pickup on Wednesday for it to be a FedEx problem, but the process is limited by human staff for shipping labels, scanning, and recording. If they couldn't get it all done, some copies shipped too late and Apple can't just magically upgrade everything to overnight shipping. It would be a logistics and accounting nightmare, and it would also cost them a lot of money that they'll instead be spending on making angry customers happy. People don't care whether it comes tomorrow or Monday or Tuesday, they care, apparently, that Apple "lied" and "broke trust" by telling customers that if they ordered by April 26th they would have it today. There's the usual grain of salt with ALL forward-looking statements. As BlueVelvet said, sh*t happens.

There's lots of things to go wrong, and that's why you'll see guaranteed shipping only on the more expensive premium methods from the carriers (usually not the originating company). FedEx promises to get your premium orders to their destinations on time, or you get your money back for the shipping (in this case, doesn't apply because you paid $0 for shipping). If you preordered, still don't have it, and it wasn't shipped until yesterday, then Apple failed to meet its obligations to get the software out in time for today's delivery, and you should certainly complain to Apple. If Apple shipped your software before yesterday with 2-day shipping, then it's no longer Apple's fault. You could take it up with FedEx, but since you didn't pay for shipping, there's nothing to gain by arguing, and complaining to Apple is just a shameless attempt to get undeserved compensation.

what is "Delivery Area Not Accessible" mean ?!!!

29 Apr 2005 09:10 Manchester Out For Delivery
29 Apr 2005 16:45 Manchester Delivery Area Not Accessible

is that possible they will delivery it tomorrow?

Same here, but i live in CLEVELAND, OH... Why did it go from PA to NJ ?

Mine got delivered, only, FedEx came only 8 minutes after I left to take my girlfriend to work...grrrr! I filled out the form for FedEx to just leave it at the door tomorrow so if they come when I am not here I will still have it when I get back.
