Yeah, neither do I, but you never know, especially since it's well-known that Tiger's coming out today.
Corvallis is only a ghetto if you're terrified of free spirits, wacky types, and neo-hippies.

Everyone should keep in mind that FedEx and UPS both deliver at least until 7:00 pm. I've received deliveries
after 7:00, too. Apple paid for 2day shipping if that's what your order status said, and if it only shipped yesterday, then you'll have it by tomorrow. It may have gone out at 6:30 am yesterday morning (soon enough for 2day logically), but FedEx 2day really means 3 days from shipping in many cases.
Yes, Apple should have gotten all of their orders out by the last pickup on Wednesday for it to be a FedEx problem, but the process is limited by human staff for shipping labels, scanning, and recording. If they couldn't get it all done, some copies shipped too late and Apple can't just magically upgrade everything to overnight shipping. It would be a logistics and accounting nightmare, and it would also cost them a lot of money that they'll instead be spending on making angry customers happy. People don't care whether it comes tomorrow or Monday or Tuesday, they care, apparently, that Apple "lied" and "broke trust" by telling customers that if they ordered by April 26th they would have it today. There's the usual grain of salt with ALL forward-looking statements. As BlueVelvet said, sh*t happens.
There's lots of things to go wrong, and that's why you'll see guaranteed shipping only on the more expensive premium methods from the carriers (usually not the originating company). FedEx promises to get your premium orders to their destinations on time, or you get your money back for the shipping (in this case, doesn't apply because you paid $0 for shipping). If you preordered, still don't have it, and it wasn't shipped until yesterday, then Apple failed to meet its obligations to get the software out in time for today's delivery, and you should certainly complain to Apple. If Apple shipped your software before yesterday with 2-day shipping, then it's no longer Apple's fault. You could take it up with FedEx, but since you didn't pay for shipping, there's nothing to gain by arguing, and complaining to Apple is just a shameless attempt to get undeserved compensation.
