Marty - I have to be honest about that scroll wheel - My MX Revolution has a tilt-wheel, and it is nowhere as satisfying. That MM scroll wheel was perfect when it came to digital photo and video work.

I would have returned my MX LONG ago if not for Steermouse - I can't say enough about that little gem. It makes my tilt-wheel a lot MORE functional - but still not a scroll wheel.

If only my MX was corded - there is no question I would have hacked my MM scroll ball into that somehow.

what mouse requires you to keep your index finger on the mouse for right clicks?

None. Some of the complaints are because people aren't lifting their finger. The MM won't detect the right button if there's a finger in contact with the left button.

I was pointing out that for most people, it's natural to lift the index finger when pressing with the middle finger. They most likely found (statistically) enough people do this for them to go ahead with this design.

I like it, but the way the scroll ball gums up is very irritating.

Also the short cable is annoying on my macbook - ports on the left hand side and I'm right handed.

i had the same problem with the scroll ball not working properly and so switched to a Microsoft Mouse. That was a big mistake! Anyway I read somewhere that if you turn the Mighy Mouse upside down and rub the ball against a piece of paper all kinds of debris comes out and the scroll ball works again. :)

There should be an option for "I used it and I am okay with it but Apple could do better"

I have all of four Mighty Mice and all of them work perfectly and I have had some problems with the wheel. I pound it on the desk a few times and I am back in business. Apple could have done a better job at making it though, and the wireless mouse is a rip off! I am not going to pay $70 for a wireless mouse that doesn't charge via USB when I can get one that does everything but 360 degree scrolling for ten bucks less.

I wish the MM could charge through USB because I just can't see myself spending the cash on batteries or having to manage another battery charger to go along with the plethora of other AA batteries and chargers for my other electronics.

Amen!

The main problems for me are that right-clicking is awkward and that the side buttons are useless. I would probably use that fourth button for something if I could actually get it to work reliably.

The scroll ball problem is annoying but is easily fixed with cleaning; it would be better if it never happened. When the scroll ball works (for months at a time), it's fine.

But none of these things are enough to motivate me to go out and buy a different mouse. It's fine.

YES! I forget about the right click issue. The fact that I have to take my left finger off of the mouse and right click and vice versa is a slight nuisance. I know that it's because the mouse uses a sensor, but that could be done better. I like the side buttons, but use them rarely, I just use my hot corners.

Hate it, It's so damn annoying having to move your left finger up just to right click.

Although Apple almost always choses asthetics over function, this really just went overboard.

The 360 wheel I actually like, but rarely use. The side buttons suck, it seems whenever I want it to move I have to squeeze the hell out of it. The worst part is playing games with it. I'm defiantly seeking a replacement soon, maybe I can trick a friend into buying it for the almighty Apple logo on it. :D

Absolutely hate it.

I have a Mac Mini which I got used, and I've always used a cheap $9 keyboard and $9 mouse.

When my dad got a brand-new iMac, he and my mom (in their 70s) could NOT get the hang of the mouse, so I gave them my $9 mouse and took the Mighty Mouse off their hands. It took very little time for me to head to the discount computer store to get myself another $9 mouse.

The "squeeze" buttons are pointless, the mini-track ball is far too touchy, the right-click is a disaster. My $9 mouse from Dynex has a real scroll-wheel, two extra programmable buttons, a longer cord, and just plain works better than the Mighty Mouse.

Apple hasn't sold a decent mouse (or keyboard) since the garbage they introduced with the first bondi blue iMac.

When I need a high-performance input device, for things like photoshop or Quark, I turn to my trusty Wacom tablet. I couldn't imagine trying to use the Mighty Mouse for photoshop work.

Can't believe I turn to Microsoft hardware on my beautiful Mac....but I love my Microsoft Mouse. I had the Mightly Mouse for about an hour before I had to get rid of it.

got my wireless MM today.

thoughts:

-i can see/feel the lag, but it's sooo minor that it's not even worth mentioning.
-i love the scroll ball and it's ability to smoothly scroll everything (unlike a standard "notched" wheel).
-solid feel.
-side buttons are actually hard to press and activate. where's this "easily activated" stuff i've been reading about?
-lifting the index finger to right click? not even a problem.
