In fact it's the exact opposite. https://www.osu.edu/ More to the point @tich was highlighting the running joke in the sports world that is OSU making such a big deal about "THE" in The Ohio State University. It's pretentiousness and all that.
Isn't it kind of like how they sometimes call Batman "THE Batman?" I always thought that was a little weird. His NAME is "Batman." When he doesn't have his suit on, they don't call him "The Bruce Wayne." Furthermore, it's not "The Superman" or "The Wonder Woman." What is it about the name Batman that lends itself to this "THE" nonsense?
Similarly, the name of the university in Columbus, Ohio is abbreviated "OSU." It's not "TOSU." And are there really any prestigious universities which use the word "THE" in front of their names? "The Harvard University?" "The Yale University?" Really?
However, the "The" was actually part of the state legislation when the university was renamed in 1878. The following excerpt is from the Board of Trustee minutes:
"...the educational institution heretofore known as the 'Ohio Agricultural and Mechanical College,' shall be known and designated hereafter as 'The Ohio State University.'"
Nah, it's nothing like that. It's entirely intentional and just as pretentious as I said it wasIsn't it kind of like how they sometimes call Batman "THE Batman?"

Ohio State University today announced that it has worked with Apple to create a comprehensive, university-wide digital learning experience that includes an iOS design laboratory and opportunities for students to learn coding skills.
Called the Digital Flagship University, the initiative will include an effort to integrate learning technology into the entire university experience. Along with the aforementioned iOS design lab, which will be available to faculty, staff, students, and members of the broader community, the university will aim to help students "enhance their career-readiness in the app economy."

Apple CEO Tim Cook commented on the partnership, and said it will give students access to Apple's new coding curriculum.Ohio State University's Digital Flagship University will launch in the 2017-2018 academic year, with the design lab set to open in a temporary space in 2018 before moving to a more permanent location in 2019.
Starting in 2018, first-year students at the Columbus and regional campuses will be given an iPad Pro with Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard, as well as apps, all funded through the university's administrative efficiency program. Swift coding sessions will begin during the spring semester of 2018.
The iOS design lab will provide technological training and certification to students and community members who are interested in developing apps in Swift.
Ohio State University also plans to integrate Apple technology into other areas of the university, introducing a chemistry course where students can complete assignments online with iTunes, debuting iPads for journalism and biology students, and more.

It is saddening that some colleges (like mine) would rather invest in non-educational programs, such as football, rather than having this awesome collaboration with Apple...

That’s because the sports programs bring in the dollars.
I understand that, but the schools that are big enough to attract Apple are major players in the sports market.Actually, other than a few schools, (such as Ohio State), almost all athletic programs lose more money than they bring in.

I mean...are you talking about Ohio State specifically, higher education in general....
You may need to have someone else read your post and help you convey what you’re trying to say.
FWIW, some universities do need that drum up more funds. However, I do acknowledge that some take it way too far. My alma mater calls me up every year to solicit donations. I can at least specify I want it to go to the CS department. It is saddening that some colleges (like mine) would rather invest in non-educational programs, such as football, rather than having this awesome collaboration with Apple...
I would prefer this to an Apple Store. Your typical AS is clean and modern, but after seeing this, I'd prefer more colors for a less sterile looking environment is all.The Ohio University looks like what an Apple Store would look like if it were a library.
Soooo, you're unable to answer my question. Oh well.
