No biggie as I got chuckle out of it! I find an extension cord too much weight on the cord that comes with the 10 watt pwr supply.
I wonder if the USB keybd USB extension I have will work? I'm just not sure the pin out is the same internally in the extension cable?
If it is it would make a great lightweight extension. 😉😉😀😕
Just take a two pin power cord from the power supply on one of your laptops or old radios or anything else, they are pretty common. Pop the prong adapter off the white cube and plug in the cord and you have an extra 6 feet of charging length.
If you pop the adapter off the white cube and look at it you will see what kind of cord you need they are really common.

Amazing. Out of 53 posts in this thread (54 including mine) there are maybe 7 or 8 posts that actually do a decent review of the iPad after one week. The other posts are either debates about the exact time of "one week" or personal jabs at one another that add nothing to the conversation.

I will work off of ob81's list to answer this question. First, the iPad exceeds my expectations in ease of use of and it's potential to be both a good content consumtion device as well as a productivity tool for content creation.
And, it's fun.
The screen is crisp and clear, multitouch is very responsive and the battery life is outstanding.
About 3G:
If you are waiting for the 3G model, consider yourself smart for getting 3G. I didn't see the importance of having 3G because I have not had the need for 3G on my MBP. Well, the iPad is not a laptop so I was wrong. The apps that run on the iPad are the same ones that run on the iPhone so it makes since that many apps run better with constant connectivity to the Internet, which wifi cannot provide. I can't download newspapers, books, or any other content when I want without 3G, which sucks. But, the 3G ipads cost too much and I don't like paying for a third Internet connection (I have one on my iPhone and my cable service - isn't that enough).

(Many of the apps designed for the iPad have a better look and feel than the iPhone versions)
Keyboard is great with the apple case or flat on a table.
(I bought the keyboard dock, but that purchase now seems unnecessary)

(I Agree. In fact web surfing in general is fast, but not great. Typing urls feels clumsy and creating bookmarks is easier and more useful on other web browsers that can't be used on the iPad)
Developers not taking advantage of the iPad yet.

My 1 week review
Having used the iPad for a week I can honestly say that everyone's right about it. (good and bad)
It is a great media device. iTunes crack is easy to get and easy to use. The experience is transparent and there is a great selection of whatever mind altering content you want. I wasn't expecting anything else from the people who had built it in the first place. I have downloaded 3 screens of apps...mostly free. My drug of choice, Netflix, should be illegal. I have watched so many shows and movies..OH.MY.GOD. 😱 It just sucks you in and suddenly it's 2am...Yoinks!
The internet, with some caveats, is truly a different experience with a touch interface. Not the content, but the way you get at it. There needs to be a "open in new tab" command (and tabs too..duh). The screen redraws have been harped on and now I notice them..but there not a big issue to the way I use the net. I also don't keep more than 3 sites open. The flash is a non-issue. I have yet to find a site that is unusable (YMMV).
Email is nice...but...if I had all my email accounts on here I could see it being little overwhelming. We need some mail rules even if our server has them. The system may have been made a little 'too simple'. I get that they were trying to get non-techies to use the iPad...but almost EVERYONE uses email of some form, we could have gotten some more tools to use.
Photo is good, but the time it takes to optomize and upload them (while synced) to iPad is aggrivating. We need an off-sync tool to prep them so we just have to sync and transfer. Except for this...the program is awesome moving around and viewing pics.
Calendar and the rest of the 'included' apps work as advertised...no surprises.
Pages is 'meh'...still working on which format is the best to import docs in. Every format I've tried so far breaks the formatting (pain) and not being able to import any previous Pages Doc (08 or older) but any doc format from Office is just...stupifying. 😡

The Battery is amazing...I get 10+ hours with mixed use (email, internet, media playback). Even when using my BT earphones and streaming Netflix, I get damn close to it. On my MBP, running airport and BT...you can see the percentage going down 🙄 .
The physical format is a little different than I imagnined. Better in some ways and not in others. The basic size, weight, and build is excellent (duh..Apple has a good record on this). I do NOT like the curved back. I get it...I understand it. I just don't like it. Besides that, it feels good in the hand. The glass is amazing (yeah, it's glossy...win/lose on that). The screen is incredible. Watching movies is a truly enjoyable experience. Photo's are glorious on it. IPS (which I don't fully understand and don't care if I do) is amazing just like everyone said it would be. 😉
Some of the 'problems' that need to be addressed are wonky wifi and the redrawing screen issue under Safari. Let's face it, if those are the worst complaints, Apple did pretty good. Both appear to be fixed via an update (? WAG there). There are some production issues that have creeped up (yellow screens or battery probs) but those are few and far between (and normal for a Rev. 1.0). I have no real issues beyond some nitpicky stuff but since Steve didn't ask my opinion I don't feel slighted 🙄

I know Apple hyped this in some areas but they don't seem pushing (public at large) to show it as a 3rd device. They show it as an e-reader (which starts and argument with Kindle fans) then they say it does so much more (implying it's a portable computer which brings all the PC, Linux, and Android fans running). Apple needs to get it firmly in the public's mind...this is a whole new other thing. Eventually it will get in more and more peoples hands, which allows other's to see it for what it is.
My 'overall' score is 9.2 out of 10.0 (unlike the russian judges I don't give perfect scores 🙂 )

Much better than I thought
Haven't used my laptop in a week. It is very comfortable to use on your lap. The typing screen is fine and it is FAST.

What surprises me about the iPad after using it a while is that I end up using it in far different ways than I anticipated. I thought the text entry aspect would be easier to get used to than it is, I also thought I would be watching a lot more movies.
However, text entry is a chore, and the glossy screen makes viewing many movies in all but the darkest ambient conditions impossible.
That said, what really surprises me is how wonderful it is for web surfing. I have poor vision and have always had to crane my neck or squint no matter how good/big the monitor. The iPad allows me to zoom in to the exact portion of the page I want. This aspect alone makes the price of admission worth it for me.
I'm also surprised by how much my wife likes it. She doesn't even enter phone numbers into her phone contacts because she simply prefers to dial the numbers. Yet she fell in love instantly with the iPad because it allows her to surf and check email on the fly from anywhere.
The hardware is a mixed bag. I'm not so much disappointed by the weight (though it is a bit heavy for what it is) but by the lack of ways to adequately grip it. I bought a thick Belkin case which helps considerably but ruins the elegant form factor. Now the iPad looks like nothing so much as a matte black lenovo net book. The screen, too, is prohibitively reflective, making use in bright sunshine or with a light source behind you all but impossible.
The touchscreen, however, is a marvel. It's so immediately responsive that it seems as if it should be belong to a third or fourth generation device. Of course, it is that in many respects since it's simply a larger version of an iPhone screen.
All in all, I give the iPad qualified approval. I knew it was very much a rev A device going In to the deal, so it's drawbacks were to be expected. I remember the very first iPod which was thick, heavy, and had a relatively meager hard drive. Within a year the weight was more or less cut in half and the capacity doubled.
I think the iPad is the first step on a long evolutionary road at will transform personal computing. It's sort of like the first mammal to walk upright--maybe it doesn't do it well, or particularly elegantly, but at least it does it.
