Mobile Me is not getting the positive attention it deserves.
The 3G iPhone looks perfect. I prefer the lower product price and higher data plan. I will probably upgrade my iPhone every year.
I am afraid the psychotic threads on this board are going to make me stop checking out MacRumors. I am not talking about normal disappointment threads by people who are just disappointed about one this or another, it is this bizarre display of reactions like boycotting etc. I don't get it. who are these people.
So true, so freaking true.
I'm very pleased and will be buying my first iphone as soon as my contract is up (november

)
The things that everyone is bitching about, are things i don't really care about.
MMS - honestly, never used it. (I've had an mms capable phone for about 5 years+ now I think)
Front facing camera for video calling - again, honestly, never used it, and myself and my wife have had a video calling capable phone in a 3G area for about 3 years.
User replacable battery. - I've never ever had a spare, or had the need for a spare battery in almost 10 years of owning a mobile phone.
Plastic back - looks nice. Improved reception is always good.
activate through iTunes gone - who cares? honestly, was that bit that important? Is it even gone? I'm seeing conflicting reports.
I've had a touch since release, it's (jailbroken) and become the ultimate in PDA's. The iphone with internet access anywhere and the app store and the new price mean I can't refuse, it's going to be amazing.
Again, so true and I agree on every one of your points.
- I don't MMS but once or twice a month, so the email workaround is fine for me.
-I have NEVER carried a spare battery for ANY of my phones.
-I have NEVER had a front facing camera and I have no need for one.
-Plastic backed phones are fine by me. I mean, its not like I haven't had a plastic backed phone for my entire cellphone using life. Oh, wait.... Seriously, phones for years have had shiny plastic backs, and NOW it is a problem?
-I can't stand the idea of using stereo bluetooth, so I don't need that either. (plus it is another battery drain)
-I have had several phones that can record video. I have used it 2 times. Yes, 2 times. I never even did anything with the videos. They sat on the phone for a few months until I deleted them. In other words, I don't care about this either.
-I have never run apps in the background on my other smartphones, so I won't miss it now. All it does is slow their limited resources down anyway. IM apps need it, and they are the one exception to my never running an app in the background, but the upcoming push notification service should work fine.
Lastly, I have been paying the $30 data price on my BlackBerry now, and I paid it on my Tilt before that, and my other BlackBerry before that, and... In other words, the $30 data plan means nothing to me, and I already have unlimited texts, so...
People have every right to be saddened by the fact that something they wanted isn't there. They don't need to be so idiotic about it though. Boycotts? Never buy another Apple product again? Apple is a complete failure? Please people, have you actually read the crap that you are typing?
There are three things I wish it did have though. The first is cut/paste. The second is the ability to send more than one attachment per email. The third is the ability to call phone numbers directly from the calendar. The fourth would have been the ability to save images from emails and the web, but this was added.
Even with those things missing, I will not even pretend that the iPhone isn't still amazing. The technology it has in it, and the platform it presents to developers is unmatched. It has such a bright future, and if anyone is really put off of all its good because of a few nit-picky things, they really need to open their eyes and look at the bigger picture.
My favorite comment is to see people say they are going to avoid the iPhone and move to something like the Samsung Glyde or Instinct. Ok, you do that. Drop your use of a mobile computer with a bright future and instead use a standard feature phone that has no real mobile operating system, is not a platform for development, and has no real future. Go ahead and trade unmatched potential for a long list of features. Just don't complain when you realize what a mistake you made.
