Apple oughta use their $100billion to make a top of the line, state of the art absolute market changing update to the iPhone or iPad and just pass up all competition by shear budget rather than these incremental upgrades.

Siri really isn't all it was marketed to be. It's nowhere near polished and quirky. I really think apple needed a marketing plan for 4S, given the same design. It's still very very beta and it really needs a few more years of development. Dictation is fine, but I'd like it to be local, meaning the things you speak don't get sent to some server somewhere. It's a privacy issue as well.

Siri on the ipad?...unnecessary and i hope not. the dictation is sufficient and dragon naturally speaking is another option.

there are a lot more important things that i'd rather see apple do with iOS6.

I'm not sure if it's unnecessary, why not have it? What's the harm? They've developed the software with the iPhone 4s, and there are many cases where it would be welcomed on the iPad (i.e. asking it for nearest restaurants, theaters, weather etc)

With that attitude, you're not encouraging evolution.

Just keep in mind the disclosure you agreed to for using Siri(dictation).

Siri will upload your personal information.

Upload, capture, store, profile...
They also like to share your personal information gathered for "product improvements" ;)

It's like Apple enacted the Patriot Act on Siri users. :D

When you use Siri, the things you say will be recorded and sent to Apple to process your requests. Your device will also send Apple other information, such as your first name and nickname; the names, nicknames, and relationship with you (e.g., “my dad”) of your address book contacts; and song names in your collection (collectively, your “User Data”). All of this data is used to help Siri understand you better and recognize what you say. It is not linked to other data that Apple may have from your use of other Apple services. By using Siri, you agree and consent to Apple’s and its subsidiaries’ and agents’ transmission, collection, maintenance, processing, and use of this information, including your voice input and User Data, to provide and improve Siri and other Apple products and services.
