I feel the same way tbh and I'm on a 6S. Just can't see a reason to spend the money upgrading when my current device is still fast and does everything I need it to.

The 8 doesn't interest me due to the design being basically the same as my current phone and the hardware upgrades don't really make much difference these days. Whilst I like the X's design it just seems to expensive for how little extra you get over the 8/8 Plus.

The price puts me off so much going to keep my iPhone 6s till 2020
By the time you get your hands on the iPhone X your only couple months away from the next iPhone launch. lol

The plateau is probably why they have returned to offering the newest, previous and previous-but-one models - they can keep the cost down at the back end as economy of scale brings component prices down and it allows them to stretch the price (and therefore bill of components) higher at the front end while having a fall back for those who aren't willing to accept ceaseless price hikes.

The X is more of a showcase item and test pilot for a new design, the SE is to cater to those who want a smaller form factor. To be honest I like the approach of offering this much choice :)

I need an iPhone SE2 to be released to make me part with money for a new iPhone or the iPhone 8 in a 4" format.

I disagree. Price is a factor, but not the main one. It's what you're getting for the price that makes it not worthy to many.
Honestly I'd rather pay £1,149 for a X than £949 for an 8+ - at least there's something you're getting for that extra cash that way

No way is my teen daughter getting a thousand dollar phone (if she even wants the X to begin with).

However, used iPhones X will be available before long :)

I will be Scared to walk out with a thousand dollar phone.
Way to many motorbike mugs here in London atm.

There’s nothing wrong with the plus models LCD. Side by side you’re going to struggle to tell the difference between the iPhone 8 plus screen and the X.

As an owner of the iPhone 7 Plus and Galaxy S8+, I strongly disagree with this. Was the iPhone screen ever really bad? Tbh, no. However when compared to the Galaxy line, you could definitely see that LCD had run its course. And the fact that the iPhone X's screen (just like the S8 and Note) will support mobile HDR....yeah
