I love everything about the iPhone 6, except for the thin plastic seal between the glass and aluminum that Apple conviently left out of its keynote and advertising. They said the phone was made entirely out of glass and aluminum and that the glass sits directly on top of the unibody. They lied! There is actually a thin PLASTIC seal going around the whole phone and it makes swiping right or left uncomfortable and not as smooth because I can feel it every time. Wtf were they thinking?

They also didn't mention the plastic used in the logic board....for all intents and purposes it is made entirely of glass and aluminum. You can't expect them to leave out a seal and allow moisture/dirt into the device.

It is that prominent I've only just noticed it after reading this and it is barely visible lol.

Thank you!!! I always like to start my day with a good laugh! Your post is priceless!

I know, right!
They also left off the fact that there was the possibility that they no longer will be required to have the FCC labels on the back of the phone (I don't recommend trying to remove it with a gentle sanding, that didn't work out too well for me).

But maybe you can use sandpaper to remove that plastic and then use either some liquid glass or liquid steel to substitute? Have you tried that?

Here is what I may try: http://www.amazon.com/Sebastian-Liquid-Steel-4-2-Ounces-Bottle/dp/B002RT71CM

I'm sticking with my iPhone 5. It's the last model that came in Black/Slate too, not Spaced Out Gray (and yes, I meant to type it that way).

Don't be a victim.
Or do you not know that there is this stuff called "paint" that can change the color of a device?

I wouldn't trust the advice of someone who was naive enough to try to remove the FCC labels with sanding and ruin the phone in the process.

Wtf were they thinking?

obviously they were thinking that adults who somehow have managed to obtain a skillset to become gainfully employed to afford a $700 phone had enough common ****ing sense to realize that glass and aluminum need a soft polymer seal to keep water out of the device. its about a tenth of a millimeter thick, get over it.

what a clown thread

Well, I'd have to disagree with you that it's EVERY iPhone 6 thread. I generally don't post in the ones praising the iPhone 6/6+.

As for moving on, I would but…well, Apple doesn't make a Black/Slate iPhone. There's nothing to move on to.

Lastly, if it bothers you that much, the forums have an ignore option that lets you filter out users you don't want to hear. It works pretty good too.

The slate iPhone was a mess because the painting ruined after a few weeks almost by itself.
I'm glad they changed their mind.

Scuffgate. Right.

It's been fine on my phone. Rather than fix it though, Apple chose to just not use black - or so the use of gray implies to me.

Really? How is my phone ruined? It is 100 percent functional..

I wouldn't trust someone who thinks a phone without the fcc logo is ruined.. You sound very superficial.

Dude, just touching plastic causes a meltdown? I don't know whether you're severely OCD or have an even more severe case of first-world problems.

how do you know its plastic? take apart the phone and take pictures. i'm calling you out on this, that you don't know what you're talking about. you're just trolling. i've worked on hundreds of iPhones and when you remove the display the glass is bonded to the digitizer and lcd, and then there are metal tabs that help hold the display in place when you put it back together oh, and on the backside of the display it is aluminum as well.

sooooo, you're wrong.

I think it's you who are superficial if you couldn't deal with the FCC logos and attempted to.

You are wrong.
You claimed my phone is RUINED. That is being extremely superficial.

Having a preference for something, whether it is a case or a non-FCC logo, is just a preference. The resultant design that I have create has, at the request of some friends, now been successfully reproduced and they enjoy the new look.

But go ahead, say that because the phone has that, it is RUINED. That is just the height of superficiality and negativity.

but, in the end you've damaged the back casing of your iPhone, made modifications and have voided all warranties of the device. good luck bringing it to an apple store if you have problems.
