The possibility of a new web browser for Mac OS 9?

This is really cool and a real step forward for the usability of Classic Mac OS. Dumb question, but would it be possible for this to load the YouTube mobile website in the future? Or even play videos? Or is that pushing it way too far?

That would definitely be the biggest challenge, youtube working natively or through a simple proxy? I'll be honest with you, it's on the wish list but possibly more of a dream list. Right now my main focus is getting standard websites to properly load, the battle getting modern day CSS to load is quite complicated on it's own. I won't dismiss the possibility, I will attempt it before assuming it's impossible.

If this browser can have html 5 video playback support it may certainly be possible to do natively! Older browsers as old as Safari on iOS 6 can playback YouTube still in the mobile website.

Wanted to share that version 0.6 brings TLS 1.2 to os 9! Website rendering speed is the current bottleneck I will be working on. I don't expect some sites to ever load instantly but the browser no longer needs a proxy which means I can really start to work on getting more sites to cooperate.

I am hoping for a new browser that has been updated. I do like the current browser but find it dated. A refresh would be very welcome in my opinion.

The thing is AFAIK, its nearly impossible to bring a true modern browser engine to OS 9. MacSurf is still an impressive thing and far better than Classilla, and will actually be able to load things.

With native HTTPS, does this mean we could use modern web-based email on OS9 again? User friendly and secure email access is one of the main things that prevents me from using OS9 as a "daily driver."

This is very, very cool. I'm in the middle of a move, so my OS9 machines are packed up but I'll be sure to try this out as soon as they are up and running.
