he is right, although, offensive - I work at an antenna engineering company and I've seen designs that look very strange that work very well from an electrical standpoint. Its possible that the aluminum sides are the phones' antenna(s) for the different wireless protocols it uses (GSM, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, etc.). The gaps would then be important as to not short out the different antenna elements. This would be interesting if the phones antenna(s) was/were moved to the exterior of the device instead of the all-to common inside-the-phone variety. its Possible at least...

I agree, but we still don't know if this is the actual final design. We know it's authentic, but is it an early prototype? Is it ready for production? Are those the final materials?
The new iPhone could very well be different than this.
Because Apple are catering for the greater consumer interest.
I've yet to see any compelling evidence that anyone but a minority of people regularly switch their mobile phone battery. It's more important to have one which can last longer (i.e. the whole day until next charge) and a phone with a quality finish which is structurally durable.
But then what's the point of the ceramic back? Apple filed a patent for use of zirconium dioxide as the case material for mobile devices in 2006, and this phone is the result of that research. The whole idea behind it was that it offers excellent transparency for the radio signals. If they were going to use the sides as the antenna anyway, the whole zirconia thing was for nothing. I also shudder to think what kind of SAR rating the iPhone would get if the whole damn phone was a giant 3G antenna...
Correct, although the iPhone has inspired entirely different usage patterns than previous cellphones so we'll never know if people would've switched batteries often on iPhones -- they never had the chance. But judging by the myriad external power packs available for the iPhone, it *is* an issue. Back when I used Nokia and Sony Ericsson phones, it was only for voice and text, and I mostly use my land phone since I work at home, so those phones could sometimes go a week on standby between charges. The iPhone on the other hand, I have to recharge daily, and it's the first ever phone of mine that's run out of juice when I'm out and about. And what good is a combined phone / gaming device / music player / video player / web browser / email client / GPS navigator if you have to avoid 80% of those activities if you want a charge to last the whole day?
It does not matter much where the break lies - as long as it soaks-up some energy. The thing to avoid is the shock going into the glass.
Every phone I can think of is made with some amount of plastic. This is the first phone with a shell made of ridgid metal and rigid glass.

Maybe thats where a GPS antenna will go - behind the zirconium so that, when held in front of you and/or in a holder the backside faces the sky to permit the RF radiation to pass through more freely than before (GPS uses a different kind of antenna technology anyway which involves phase shifting so it likely wouldn't be the same as the antennas for GSM/WiFi/Bluetooth).
Also Apple has been known to have patents for seemingly nothing- just in case or for things for many years later so I don't know.

Lucky me that I live in Japan and we have far far more advanced mobile than the rest of the world ... bought my new Fujitsu, 12Mp camera .... iPhone 2Mpixel?3Mpixel? and people is happy ?

There isn't even one thing you said that makes the least bit of sense. (And, btw, in OS 4 you can set your wallpaper to whatever you want. And 12 megapixels on a cellphone is retarded - why do you want noisy crappy photos that, as a side benefit, also take a ton of file space?)

Oh and by the way a freaking 16GB mini sd card cost around 3000 yen here in Japan that is around ..let's see 30 bucks in US?Ohhh nooo but we have to pay 600$ for a 32GB big monster.

For your information any japanese mobile even the one with 12mp camera have a setting for change the resolution of the photo you want take.
16Gb minisdcard is a card and easy interchangeable in a common mobile phone like you do in a common camera.And yes my mobile as screen, browser (far mor faster than iPhone, unfortunately I still have iPhone too).
User face camera is present in almost all mobiles in Japan and in may mobile in Europe.
That doesn't change the sensor resolution. All that does is combine pixels. You can't change the physical resolution of the sensor. For your information.
Look - you complained that a 16GB mini sd card is cheaper than an iPhone. I asked if your mini sd card can place phone calls. You responded with a non sequitor.

Oh sorry, yes my 16GB minisdcard can make phone calls!no I'm joking, of course it can't.But you discussed about space for photos and I replied that using a cheap minisdcard in a mobile phone doesn't bother you with space problem in fact it's cheap and you can replace it in a second like you do in a camera.
If iPhone had one slot for a card that will be a clever thing, and don't tell me that there is no room for that, because I can't believe it.
And yes I'm italian, forgive me for my bad english.
