Just like the cracked iPhone 3G and 3G's did not bode well for long term use or the all glass front and back 4 and 4s's did not bode well for long term use? How about the bending iPhone 5's that were popping up a few days after that phones release.
New iPhone releases are always under a microscope. There are always doom and gloom problems that after a month or so blow over and never end up really being serious long term issues. This is being overblown.
What concerns me 100x more is the iOS 8 issues
Exactly. I am not overly concerned about bending my iP6+ at this time. I've had a 3G, iP4, iP5 and now the iP6+.
lets see, the 3G, never had any issues with it or the back until maybe a year or so ago when I noticed some minor cracks in the back plastic case. Granted I dropped it a bunch of times due to the slippery back back in the day so not unexpected. Guess what, still works to this day. It is my 2 year olds play thing. She like just making the screen light up.
My iP4, dropped a few times as well, but was in a think plastic clear case. By thin I mean a clear almost non-existant case. no shock proofing or anything. No broken front screen or back glass. Sold my wife's and mine for about $200-250 when the iP5 came out.
My iP5, some dings and scratches on the back and edges but still works flawlessly and looks decent still. The only issue with it is the sleep/wake button is finicky at the moment. probably needs to be opened up and repositioned. I dropped it a few months back.
My iP6+. Used it since launch day. I've had a Bodyglove Satin case on it to help protect it a bit since it is big and a little slippery. It has been in my front pocket and in my side cargo pockets. So far, no issues.
