It also applies to the first MBA that Steve Jobs pulled out of that skinny yellow envelope when he showed it off and we also know how that went. It went on to become the best-selling laptop and an industry-standard when it comes to industrial design. So, it can go either way.
Yeah the MBA did well later… after they improved the specs and decreased the price. That’s what most people are complaining about with the iPhone Air.

Exactly. Apple may do exactly that with future iterations of the iPhone Air

I think once people see/feel the iPhone Air in person, sales will pick up.

Personally, I would gladly sacrifice some of the features lost for hand comfort.

I will say that I initially thought the orange Pro model looked goofy, but after seeing some closer footage of it in Mr Mobiles video, I think it looks really cool.
Hope you are correct but I presume that since carrier subsidies usually focus heavy discount on the base level phone in this case the iPhone 17 then it will be carrying the torch into next years iPhone release.

Most people are seeking the most affordable option that has comparable competitive features and this years iPhone has Apple marketed for years “pro” features which adds even more value added to the base iPhone 17.

The two cameras have some Zoom and I am sure most budget consumer will be just fine. I have the 16 Pro and I hardly use the Zoom on it but then again over the years I have also been taking out fewer photos, the prime reason I purchase the pro was for ProMotion.

2025 Winner for Apple iPhone is the 17.

The base is $1100 Canadian. Painful as my wife just said she’d like to upgrade from her base 13.

Hey Tim how about some price savings for your neighbours to the north!

Not sure if this was posted yet, but the real reason this model is the best-selling in China is because the Chinese government, to boost consumer consumption, has been offering an incentive (500 RMB or ~$70) on smartphones priced less than 6000 RMB or ~$840. Guess which iPhone 17 models qualify?

right, you hit the nail on the head

Very simple: best bang for your bucks.

Plus it’s light and thin compared to the pro version. A pro lite if you will for $799. Easy sell.
Exactly! That’s an accurate definition. A light iPhone Pro. I don’t really miss anything from the pro now… except the PWM off-switch.

The iPhone Pro is a tough sell being $300 more than the base model this year. I am sure a lot of folks with scoop it up, but the base model offers so much more this year over previous ones. I feel like it used to be that the pros has a starting storage base that was double the standard model, so it felt like it wasn't as steep of a jump in price.

This year Apple chose to keep the iPhone 17 base model the same cost as the 16 and double the storage. However they raised the starting price of the Pro by $100, and claimed they kept the price the same as last year because they doubled the base storage. But since they didn't do this with the base model, they weren't consistent and the divide between the two got larger imo.

Im on the fence between getting the pro and the iphone 17. I currently have the iphone 13 and I need to upgrade it, battery life on it stinks and the screen bothers my eyes just too small..so I want something that has much better battery life. I dont use it for videos, but will make phone calls with it, surf the web, and go on social media..do you think the iphone 17 is enough for that or do I need the pro?

iPhone 17 could be a good phone for you, assuming the good but not top-of-the-line battery life is sufficient for you. However, you do say you want a bigger screen. Going from 6.1" to 6.3" may not be enough for you. If not, then you might want to consider the Pro Max.

What you might want to do is go to the store now and compare the sizing of the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max to see what size makes the most sense to you. Or if you wait until the end of the week, you can check out the 17 series in person.

Iphone 17 regular might be the best selling this time, 17 PM is going to sell a lot just like every year, Air will sell a lot but not going to have huge sells apple would expect , the 17 Pro 6.3 will sell a lot less

Unfortunately, when I use the camera, I often need the telephoto lens, so I had to go with the Pro. But it really gave me a hard time, because apart from that, the standard model really has everything I want, and is much less ugly. It‘s the best deal it has ever been.

I just wish they presented an iPhone Air with a 5 inches screen or something.
It would have been much cheaper, AND lighter.

I can still hope for the future.

The regular iPhone 17 seems the most obvious upgrade for most. I am still on 12 mini and it still runs great with new battery installed. I might upgrade but might wait a year or two more. What would really have me buying a new iPhone if they made another mini model. Maybe the cheaper version gets the mini size down the line?
Thank you for being respectful of the environment by upgrading once every many years.
And also for hoping that - like me - Apple will return producing smaller iPhones :p

This is terrible, considering how addicted to phones most Chinese are.
This shows that, unfortunately, a government once again doesn't give a f*ck about its citizens.

Honestly i hope i am wrong because the Air is great its just the battery which is the concern, but we need actual real life tests and that will happen when the phone is released.
How many hours do you use your Phone every day, that you fear 18 hours of usage might not be enough??

yeah the pro max is way way too expensive for me..heck even the pro is expensive just wasnt sure if it was worth spending 300 bucks extra just to have better battery..will have to see how it is on Friday when people start getting their phones then I will have an idea which one is better to go with, people will review them etc..I belong to a family plan with my brother in law(tmobile) shows that I would get 135 bucks for my iphone 13, geez who realized it would drop by that MUCH..on apples site I would get 200 bucks but when I do decide what phone I want my brother in law would order it for me since its on his account and ship it to me and I would ship my old phone to tmobile
I think I messed up the battery on the iphone 13 by charging it too much, in the beginning I used to wait til it was around 30 percent left to charge it again, then after a while when it was 93 percent charged Id plug it in, so maybe I messed up the battery..for the new phone Id have to make sure I wait a certain amount of time before I charge it and I will get magsafe charging this time no more plugging it in

Bro, if you are used to how long battery lasts on an iPhone Mini, the I can assure you that any new iPhone will last days to you ;).
Be smart and save some money. Technology won't make you happy anyway.

Cheers
