Special Italian Macs. Did you see that the new iGPUs will use 1GB RAM? You will be glad you went with 8GB. 4GB RAM just isn't going to cut it now or in the future.
Well yeah, but Apple generally just doesn't do that. I should just drop down to the i5 and go pick up the base model at the store and save myself $300, but I think I'll stay the course.
Naha, don't do that. You've waited this long - why ruin it?
Yeah, I know. I also thought about switching to 16GB RAM, but I know I won't use it. I think I'll be pretty happy with my i7/8GB/256GB configuration.
I'll be happy if this thing arrives Monday or Tuesday.
Wah wah what??? You? 8gb? Na na na na na - you're way too knowledgable for 8 - get 16. It'll make you feel better. You're waiting a whole week for 8? Come on, dude - you're better than that.![]()
Hahaha. I could place an order right now and get the 16GB model 1-2 days later than the 8GB, and decide later.
And that, you shall. Seriously, I'm counting on you to show me how to use my new, ahem, my first Mac. How can u do that in slow-mo.

Probably due to austerity measures - nothing to see here.
Ordered the same one, still patiently waiting for mine to ship. Hoping it comes by Monday or Tuesday. My 15/2.6/512 just went to preparing for shipment. These were the 2-4 days BTO with the 2.6 processor.

Edit: Since most orders seem to be coming from Shanghai, it's 6:22 A.M. there so a lot of us should get shipping notices later on tonight.
In the UK
13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display
2.8GHz Dual-core Intel Core i7
16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
512GB Flash Storage
Finally my status has been updated to "preparing for shipment," doesn't mean a whole lot considering I'll have to wait a week to finally see it. Ugh!

There! I just cancelled my order, I'm going to go with 16GB RAM.![]()
Yay! Just blame that initial move on cheap whiskey- it makes us do bad things.
Yeah, now I'm drinking like a classic 70-year old bottle of wine. I definitely don't think I'll use more than 8GB RAM right now, but resources are getting bigger and bigger. I remember just a few years ago when people suggested you need 8 instead of 4.
Besides, I'll be doing massive traveling soon and I may not be able to upgrade as soon as I want to due to higher Mac prices overseas. But I'll probably still go with a 256GB SSD, unless I change my mind on that too.
Ugh, now I get to wait longer.
Ram is one of those things that I always max out on. the way i see it, you buy ram not for the work you to day, but what you will tomorrow. Of course, that's based on a person's budget. Don't max out on ram if you have to subsist on ramen noodles for the next 6 months.
