 Get rid of Kevin and Sarah? Kevin is very knowledgable on all sorts of technology and has a great onscreen personality. Sarah is also smart, showing Windows registry hacks as well as other stuff and she doesn't act like a complete moron like you would think MOST girls would do on a technology show. Don't get me wrong, I liked Patrick and Leo, but I really liked the shows with Patrick and Kevin.

Kevin doesn't seem nearly as helpful to the callers as Patrick, Leo, or Kate were. Sure, they had their problems at times, maybe more than I can recall, but they almost always had a reasonable answer. If not, they had one either before the next segment or at the end of the show. Kevin's average just isn't quite high enough for my tastes. Also, the way he promotes and glorifies hacking, wardriving, etc. just annoys me. Maybe it's because I'm a PC Tech (not a sysadmin or IT Director), and I fear one day I'm going to have to waste my time cleaning up after someone like him. Yeah, I know he says he shows us these things for our own good, and I'm not blaming him for the actions of other hackers. It just irks me that he acts like hacking is so cool.
I guess I explained that coherently.

As for Sarah, I find a lot of her hacks to be totally useless. Maybe I'm just too practical, but I don't see the point in changing the text on my "Start" button. Also, I hope none of the people at work try this stuff. I'll be cleaning up after them too.

I don't think that Yoshi and Robert would make good hosts. They are great for segments during the show though. I think they need to get a better (older?) cohost with Kevin and the show will be much better.

You may be right about Yoshi and Robert. Hey, I'm no talent scout. I can't see them ever having an older host as long as Comcast is in control. Age, wisdom, and class aren't things that are appreciated by G4.

You are right about the helpfulness to callers. It seems like they used to get better questions and they actually spent some time giving the caller a good answer.

I think the stuff Kevin has done about hacking the xbox and other things is interesting. But, I don't like all the computer hacking/wardriving stuff either. What practical use does this have to normal users?

I also find a lot of the hacks Sarah does useless. I guess I'm just glad she's not a complete moron and she's fun to watch.

It's hard for me to believe the show has gone so far downhill. If the problem was they were not getting enough advertising, how the heck do they get enough advertising for the G4 shows? I wouldn't watch some of those if you paid me.

With my analog cable, my cable company has this "sample" channel which rotate week to week, and are available full time with an "upgrade" to digital cable. Occasionally they put on TechTV.

That whole channel really isn't very good. I'm not sure which demographic it's targeted to (aside from silly PC/console gamers).

They don't really go in depth on anything special.. it just kind of sucks.

Anyways in regards to this particular thread I guess the only reason they blew up a ~$1000 (on e-bay) computer is to do exactly what happened: create lots of commotion on the Mac boards.

I'm not really interested in what some idiots do on some stupid TV show. They really don't seem to have a firm grasp on the technology they're fooling with anyway. Half the time it's a commercial for one of the PC builders (and they hardly ever encourage people to build their own PC).

I liked their website though, I often find it in google when searching for how to do random things in OS X like adding custom system sounds and such.

It's LA --- the fumes.

That new guy is HORRIBLE! Bring back Patrick!!!! And Leo!!!!

Now all thats left are the kids! Soon they'll be a 100% video games show. And soon they'll drop the "TechTV" from the name...

Here, here !!!

When the staff was a mix of age groups, they had that archetypal family thing going for them : Leo was the Mom, Patrick was the devilish child,
Yoshi was the industrious child, etc. And I miss Megan.
But the move to crappy LA from SF must be the worst of psychic shock. I hope none of them try to jay-walk here in LA, expecting serene and polite motorists to stop with a smile. Here in LA, we'll not only go up on the sidewalk to cull them: we'll go after their families as well. Geeeeezzz !
Who would move from SF to LA ?!

Remember Ms. Perreira ? She was cool ! --- gone.

The new guy can be funny, but there's too much tension between him and Kevin who is also cool. It's not a good mix : he is a Bizarro World version of Kevin. But we already had a Kevin.

Leo was so comforting and Apple-savy. Huge loss to the show.

I still watch it, but I find myself erasing it from my TIVO every day : I used to save them.
