I let my wife shave my head every couple of weeks. I already have the Picard hairstyle, so a shaved head looks good. At least on me. My wife likes it that way.

Mine is receding and I have been doing a #5 on top to a #1. My wife doesn't like me shaving it off so I've been doing it that way for her, but in a couple of years she might not have a choice! I agree with the above about it feeling perfect after you get it buzzed off. Great feeling! I don't know if I could ever go smooth bald though. Too many Mr. Clean commercials in my youth. I also think to go smooth bald people shouldn't be too overweight (unless you can pull it off that look).

I have thought of doing this actually. However, I have a bump on the top of my head from a childhood accident (probably have a scar from the stitches.) I have always been leery of shaving it for fear that it would look like hell. Hence, too late afterwords...

Anyone ever had an experience in shaving it, and having immediate regrets on it not looking good? Most people I see with them, like my neighbor, seem to pull it off. In fact I don't recall seeing ones noggin shaved that looked terrible.

BTW, I have a full head of hair and thankful for it; just always wondered as I am not afraid to do it baring the above concern of my could be somewhat alleviated...

Of those who buzz, how many do it yourself?

I bought a good clipper a couple years back and have been doing it myself since. For something that easy, I figured there's no sense in paying a hairstylist to do it. My wife cleans up my neckline once I'm done.

I started buzzing my head when I was a Sophomore in college--before I started to recede.

Ever since then, my hairline has been making a run for it. I continue to buzz it. While my receding hairline is still very present when buzzed. The buzzed look makes it appear less severe.

I would look ridiculous with a completely shaved head b/c I have quite a small head--

have you ever thought about being like me and just buzzing it really short?:D

I've been buzzing my hair not because I have less and less of it, but because although I'm in my middle 40s, that gray hair is coming in way too much and this hides it. Like person above, I too do it myself. I don't have anyone to do my neckline so I leave it as is.

I do believe that the thread was in relation to 'chrome domes' Perhaps you may like to rephrase the quoted section

The thought has crossed my mind, but I never pulled the trigger. I enjoy swimming and so I always kept my hair pretty short. If I were to start going bold though, I would definitely just start shaving it all off.
