You know the sound it used to make when you paid using Apple Pay? Well; in the new iOS, it changes.

The old sound

Do you have an opinion you were looking to share or were you just letting us know?

I have no interest in using Apple pay nor do the greater majority of iPhone users. A recent article mentioned a mere 6% of those eligible to use it, are using it, meaning they have the newer phones designed for Apple Pay.

At some point as it becomes a more accepted choice I imagine that gradually more will use it. I know when I asked around at work many hadn't heard about it and when I explained it to them, most just aren't impressed. It's so easy to swipe a credit/debit card that women especially have no desire to change or take chances with a payment. That's precisely what they told me. I thought it is an interesting view on this technology.

I believe once enough people are using it so the ladies see it's neither risky or difficult to learn, eventually they'll try it.

LOL I keep my phone on vibrate

so all I care about is that I feel the vibration and see the default credit card appear and I'm good to go. Wish it was more universally accepted.

Off to wasteland. The OP is the king of threads that end up in wasteland. Add yet another to that list.

Why? It's clearly something demonstratable.

It's totally meaningless. Has absolutely no impact on Apple Pay. Thus a wasteland thread. Most people come here to discuss issues they have with their phones and to find solutions. When silly threads gum up the whole forum it creates tons of useless threads and makes searching for relevant threads even harder. If you are going to start a thread, make it something that is important and impacts the operation of the phone. Not another silly sound thread.

It's important to us. And to Apple if they decided they needed to change it.

Then place your thread in the proper location! It's called the ios 8 section of this forum since it relates to ios 8. This part of the forum relates only to the iPhone. What you are talking about would effect not only the iPhone, but iPad, etc. Again, place your threads in the proper location.

Even though most of the OP's thread are doomed for wasteland, he/she has a right to post and some reader do show an interest in the subject. It is really one of his better posts.

We can make a thread about anything we really want to concerning the iPhone.

And anyway , it was actually kind of A surprise when I first noticed it. I was like, what sound is that.

I think it sounds more basic.

The iPad has Apple Pay? I don't think so.

Yes the iPad has Apple pay. It would have to be the latest model though, which is the iPad Mini 3 and the iPad Air 2. I have the iPad Mini 3 and it has Apple Pay. But I don't use Apple pay on my iPad nor on my 6 Plus.

It's the sound you hear every time you pay for something. It's kind of major.

Banks expect Apple Pay to increase in usage. And then those who already have Apple Pay are going to increase its usage even more.

More and more until 99 percent of your purchases are Apple Pay purchases.

I believe it had something to do with a "similarity" to another services' "sound.

Just a brief comment. :apple:

Very obscure.

lol you know the funny thing about using Apple pay is when you go to a place that doesn't have it and you try not to look dumb holding your phone next to it. I used to be shy with it but now I just do it in plain sight and say out loud. "You guys don't have Apple pay? Behind the times." Or "Ohhhhh! I forgot you didn't have Apple pay"
