Count me in as one thinks we WILL be seeing a 5.5" iPhone.

There's too many leaked information about a larger iPhone to consider anything other then that.

I'm starting to think there WILL be a 5.5" iPhone 6, we have the battery leak and a 5.5" display leak. However will Apple make the 5.5" the premium phone? will it be the only one that has a sapphire screen, maybe a higher pixel count and maybe a 128GB model?

Have you had any reliable info from this source in the past?

Nope. Literally was having a conversation about the phone and my friend is like listen I know your stoked about the new one coming and was like I have one tiny bit of I fo that no one probably knows. Then I was told. There is a 99.9999% chance it's wrong but I had yo say it just in case it actually happens and then it would be awesome to be the leaker of a suprise for once

What to say to this?

I know.

LOL.

Hey we dont laugh at all the mock ups and dream specs people post online. In fact tmz just got embarrassed badly because they posted photos of an iphone knockoff and claimed it to be the 6. But seriously its going to have expandable memory lol

While I do agree we are going to get a 5.5" iPhone, most of the leaks and information is based on mockup sand rumors. There is very little hard information.
A main board that seams to have a different screw pattern is being attributed to the 5.5 and then yesterday the 2900mAh battery. But other then those, no screens, shells, blurry pics ect.

We got blurry photos of the front panels yesterday.

I hope so because if there is a 128 GB Phone I'm in.

i think if they do a 128GB version, it will probably only be available for the 5.5" model, because it will be classed as Phablet. Also Apple have done the 128GB with the iPad's. They may even make the 32GB standard and do away with the 16GB.

I agree with you Dave.

I think the 5.5 will be a 32/64/128 memory and MAYBE later offer a 16GB sort of how Apple offers a 8GB for the 5.

I can see Apple offering a 16/32/64 for the 4.7.

Man. This whole time I've been thinking that I would get the 4.7 version, the 2900mah battery for the 5.5 version will be tough to pass up.

I hope they announce both at the same time even if it is a staggered release. This is because what happens to everyone that just upgraded to the 4.7? Aren't they SOL?

They're either announcing both models next month or unveil the 5.5 fall 2015.
Apple is not going to release the 4.7 and announce the 5.5 after a couple of months when most users already bought the new model

While I think Apple will announce both at the same time, Apple has released a model of something and then a new model of something just a few months later. See iPad 3 and iPad 4 for example. So it could happen.

Well now there is a shell that happens to have screw holes that appear to align with the screw pattern of the previously-seen board. So if all that is legit, we have a shell, the board for the "brains" of a 5.5" iPhone and a big(ger) battery for the iPhone. That's a LOT of an iPhone 5.5" right there.

More importantly, with just a few weeks to go, we have a large segment of people believing that a 5.5" option is coming too. Apple PR should be keenly aware of this and would not want a big group to be disappointed when they launch their new baby(s). Even key members of the press- namely WSJ and Bloomberg- is on public record with expectations of a 5.5". So I think there should have already been a Dalrymple "Nope" regarding a 5.5" if there was not one. A simple tactical "leak" like that would let the air out of this balloon ahead of the event and the 5.5" crowd could then rally to the 4.7" or buy bigger-screen Androids.

It happened once and it wasn't a completely redesigned model, but a speed bump with the new connector.
If they are doing it with iPhone, delaying the 5.5 for a few months, some people are going to be very angry.

Let's see what happens, anyway I'd be happy to see the 5.5 model next month even if I'd probably buy the 4.7

If they launch a 4.7" iPhone before a 5.5", I don't know if I'd consider a 5.5" iPhone as being a "completely redesigned" iPhone either- just a bigger 4.7" iPhone. Personally, I don't consider either of these new iPhones "complete" redesigns but just iterative new designs of previous iPhones. Many people- myself included- think the mockups looks pretty similar to a 2-to-3 year old iPod Touch design.

I also question the "very angry" part. Sure, those that have a compulsion to own the very latest are going to gripe when their very latest is replaced a few months later. But it's not Apple's obligation to allocate a period of time toward satisfying that particular mentality. Again personally, I see 4.7" vs. 5.5" as just a choice of screen sizes. Launching one before the other doesn't make the one that launches later superior or some kind of "update"- just different.

If it turns out that the 5.5" has to wait a few months, so what (as far as I'm concerned). I'll just wait for it. And once someone can get past the "what do other people think" nonsense, all that really matters is whether a person gets the one THEY want. The oohing and ahhhing we get out of showing our friends our new <geewhiz gadget> is a one-off pleasure. After we've fed our need for those oohs & ahhhs, we then have to get our kicks out of what the gadget actually does for us for the next year or two.

Yeah! We want a complete redesign. Make it circular or into the shape of a banana. :D

Pretty sure the 5.5" is real. We've seen enough part leaks that I think it's more than just a prototype - although it is definitely further behind in production.

Purely from a business standpoint, the market forced their hand, even if these larger phones go against the perfect size/ 1 handed use mantra. I mean, just look at Android/Windows phones - 5+ inches is the new 'small', with 5.5-6" phablets the norm now. Releasing just a 4.7" model leaves Apple with a disadvantage yet another year.

I think Apple would announce both at the same time. My guess is 4.7" iPhone and new iPad(s) available a week/two later as usual, with the 5.5" and the iWatch shipping sometime in October.

What I'm most curious about (even ignoring all the people on this and other sites who say that the 3.5/4" size was the biggest they would ever go) is if this will play out like it did with the gold 5S, or even just the 5S vs. the 5C in general, and the 5.5" model outsells the smaller version for being the higher end, better spec'd phone.

There's 100% a 5.5" iPhone... my only concern is WHEN it launches.. if it's 3-4+ months, I'm on 4.7" until the 6S.

:apple:

I think the 5.5 was in testing. But don't see one being released/announced on Tuesday.
