Unfortunately, complaints like this actually make the show seem more exciting than it is...the problem is not too much edginess, it'd too little content. Frankly, I wouldn't even mind going back to the old, boring, pre-reboot Top Gear. At least it was mostly about cars.

Of course, the Reliant Robin Space Shuttle episode was the moment when TG jumped the shark, so we shouldn't be too shocked about a downward spiral of quality. I think the best days of the show are well in the past.

Your right, TG definitely isnt what it used to be. Even on 'new' top gear, the first few series were mainly about cars, being the star of the show rather than just a by- product of it. But the past few series have had much more emphasis on humour, much to the extent that it isnt just a car show anymore. Anyways, still love it and cant wait for this new series to start :D

Well I enjoyed it. I thought the focus on the cars was about the right level, but still with some humour. Perfect viewing for a Sunday night.

Hopefully the series continues in the same manner.

Yeah.
But 220k for the noble? that thing has literally no luxuries! no airbags or anything lol, id still get the 458, or the aventador if money was no object :)

Yeah.

Perhaps the Noble is a little on the steep side! I would go with the 458. All the other cars are just trying to match it.

Hey that was actually an awesome show! A great start to the series!

If I was paying for it, I would go with the 458 too. The Aventador is awesome though and I would definitely get that if I had enough money. The noise it makes is just epic and the looks, and the blue flames! I quite enjoyed the bit when Hammond demonstrated Noble's turbo noise though. Haha it was like kids showing off. :D

I'd have to go for the Lambo, but I wouldn't complain if you gave me any of them :p

That bit where James and Clarkson were playing around in the tunnel was like car porn.

Also there was about a second of Clarkson riding a bike, which I liked.

I've just caught up with the last couple of episode, though I wish I hadn't.

I do like that Ferrari FF, immense GT. But why the criticism of the cars 4WD system? Overly complex? Are they f'king kidding? It's a 4 seater with a transaxle, or were they seriously thinking that Ferrari should used a secondary driveshaft a'la the Nissan GTR?

You can certainly tell when the humour is forced.

And you can certainly tell when they drive a car in a particular (or should that be a peculiar) way purely so they can criticise it, like the Merc Black Edition thingy last week... what exactly does he expect will happen when he does some strange pseudo-scandinavian flick, turns in and then boots the throttle.

The programe is on a downward slope.:(

Once a must see, is now I'll watch if nothing else is on.;)

I seem to be in the minority on here to still enjoy Top Gear, though this series is an improvement on the last series imo which i did have some doubts about, i just can't see why people take it so seriously, some people seem to get so worked up about it it's laughable, anyway as for the programme as a whole, some of it works, some of it doesn't work so well, but it's still on my 'must watch' list, it could be worse of course, it could be fifth gear ;)

I really hope there will be a Top Gear UK vs Top Gear USA. I want to see Clarkson, Hammond, and James destroy the US hosts. They need to learn how it is done. :p

That would be too painful, like watching Olympic athletes matched against Special Olympic athletes. Top Gear UK should just drag the Top Gear US hosts behind a building, and Old Yeller' em. ;)

Painful? Maybe for the US hosts, but not for us. I would welcome the UK hosts to Old Yeller them. That would be more entertaining than they are right now.....
