Apple obviously already has all the technology to do what I want.

What I want is a really small MacBook, as thin and light as it can be while still having a great keyboard. I’m guessing it would be about 10”.

(The PowerBook G4 12” and the MacBook Air 11” are high on my list of favorite devices of all time.)

The 12" G4 and the 12" MacBook are the sexiest devices Apple ever made - I think 12" with minimal bezels is the perfect ultraportable size. What I love most about the 12" G4 is the keyboard is literally the full width of the laptop with no padding. I think smaller than 12" goes into Netbook, compromised experience because it's too dang small size.

My 12" MacBook is still in 'like new' condition and does the basic user tasks without a problem. I wish Apple would put an M1 in the same form design. That would be the perfect mobile Mac for me. :D
My 2016 12” Macbook is painfully slow and has multiple hardware issues, and I am really looking forward to upgrading it. But the design is superb and much better than any other laptop they have released, so i would love to see them update it.

Edge to edge display, 1080p webcam, an actually functional keyboard, no display issues, two TB4 ports, perhaps 13”, OLED or Mini-LED, and whatever M2 chip with 16GB RAM they can come up with, would be my dream laptop.

My other design would be a little bit riskier. I would make a 20" MacBook Pro. Yes, I said it. 20" MacBook Pro. It would be for those long all day trips to the cafe to get some work done so I have ultimate screen real estate. And guess what I would do? Remember those slot loading DVD drives Apple used to have on their computers? I would put a slot loading drive where when I eject it, it ejects a 12" MacBook. The best of both worlds. Ultimate portability and ultimate power. All in one. Tim Apple, come holler at your boy!!! I got a blank spot on my resume for Apple, Inc.! It's called Creative Director!
And you can insert the 20" into a dock a la the Powerbook Duos.

I had an 11 inch MacBook Air and I really liked it, I loved the tiny size. When the 12 inch MacBook came out I was very impressed with it since it was very similar in size but had a better display size and aspect ratio. But the problem is that I didn’t need a laptop at that time. I also didn’t like the complaints about the keyboard and it being slow.

I think a more current 12 inch MacBook in the same form factor would be great. Although for my uses today, I would probably be a little bit happier with a 14 inch MacBook Air that reduce the size of the bezel so we can keep the same overall size as the 13 inch.

I really, really wish I had purchased the last generation when they were being cleared. It would still have been in use today, assuming the keyboard still worked.

I just couldn't imagine it was going away without some sort of reasonable replacement.

Yeah, I still find it absolutely crazy that Apple got rid of both the 12 inch MacBook and 11 inch MacBook Air.

You should be able to find a lightly used one, with the max RAM and SSD upgrades, for a lot less than when new.

I feel that that particular train has left the station, I have a 14" now.

It is just that I realize in retrospect I would have been able to put it to good use over the last five years instead of making do with an iPad.

Let’s see, since some of this is pure fantasy….. I’d like a 32” iMac, and it would have a side eject button, and that ejects a 16” MacBook Pro, which in turn has an eject button, and that ejects a 13” iPad Pro, which in turn has an eject button, and that ejects an iPhone Pro Max, which has an eject button, and that ejects an iPod nano. Did I miss anything? Haha

For me, it'd be:
  • Form Factor: 13" M1 MBP
  • CPU: M1 Pro
  • RAM: 32 GB
  • SSD: 2x 1TB drives
  • Display: Current Retina resolution but add in HDR capability and 120Hz refresh rate.
  • Battery: 15% energy density increase per cell
  • Keyboard: 13" M1 MBP with TouchBar
  • Ports: Same 2 USB-C, add MagSafe and HDMI
That's pretty much it. Can it be done? Quite potentially.
