I have a samsung Spin point 12.5 mm 5400 on my Macbook pro17"Late 2008,My macbook pro13" 2010, And my mac book pro 15" i5 2010, very happy with it!

I have 1TB in my MBP. 7200rpm too! Of course it's a pair of 500GB drives in RAID0 (so it's even faster than a single drive would be). Details via the link in my sig. :D

nope .. it was all tv shows, movies, etc., that I never watched. I just saved them for the sake of saving them.
Between netflix, and redbox ... I'm good.

I guess so, I'm always reluctant to do things like that, though; you never know!

Are you able to install Windows 7 64bit on your MBP? If yes, care to share how? I'm on a mid-2010 MBP and I can't seem to get pass the "Windows is loading files part" during installation. Currently running without RAID-0 and I miss the disk access speed...

I never really understand the rhyme or reason behind such massive internal drives, I'd be completely paranoid storing anything above a hundred gigs permanently on my mbp - and even a 100gigs is rare for me!

I'd be always concerned of theft mainly (unless also backing up externally, but an internal 1TB PLUS external backup seems like an expensive route!).

I have a 500gb 7200rpm drive in my system and store only apps on it. The rest - all personal files, music and photos etc is stored on a 1TB time capsule and then this is auto backed up to a 2TB Lacie drive - hidden in a very concealed area of my house.

Its just about perfect for me and wasnt expensive at all. My system is totally clean and runs super fast, I can access everything instantly from my time capsule with no noticeable lag, and everything backs up quietly elsewhere out of sight. I cant envisage ever needing more than 3TB total storage.

For travel, if I want my itunes collection or photos with me (not often really) I just tend to compile a few setlists and albums onto my key fob USB. No hassle! If I wanted the whole lot, it would take approx ten minutes or so to dump the entire itunes/iphoto libraries temporarily onto my mbp hard drive and Im away!

I'm currently using 300GB's of my 500GB HD inside my MBP.

About 100GB's are all iTunes stuff; music, movies, TV shows etc.

The rest are documents, photos, home videos, etc.

The important stuff, which is prety much everything except movies which take up a lot of space, are backed up on an external HD and is always at home, just in case.

Personally, I like to have everything with me at all times...just in case.

I wouldn't mind getting rid of the optical disc drive on my MBP, but don't yet know how...but wouldn't mind replacing it with another 500GB HD...or at least throw in the extra 320GB HD I currently have.
