Ive survived luckily, I was > < that close from buying the previous generation macbook pro 15' 3 weeks ago. I am glad i found this website to warn me. Off subject, With me not doing research, I bought my Nikon 70-200 2.8 lens 1 month before the replacement was due. Now i dont have to go through the simular process with my new computer!

I have two questions... Are they accepting shipping NOW? and will be able to recieve them in the next week? or is it a preorder or what?

also, Whats the difference between an I7 processer and a dual core processor like in the Imac 27in and the Mac pros?

It was frustrating at times but have been waiting since November.

Getting my new MBP this weekend :)
 
I have survived, and I am happy with the update, as I was feeling for a 15" with a higher resolution. Now that I can order it with a 1680x1050 display, I'm happy. CPU power (although the i5 is really nice) and GPU is not very important to how I use my laptop, so no worries for me there.

Too bad the 13" didn't get iX though. Although I will say that the GPU and the RAM upgrade was pretty nice. As someone who works with fixing these computers, I can tell you that the 13" is really cramped and I am not at all surprised that they couldn't fit some iX and a dedicated GPU in it.
 
I survived too, happy that the thread is done in a way, but as strange as it can sound, I'll miss the thread too, it was great to wait with you guys, I had some very good laugh here :). Going to the "official waiting fro Sandy Bridge thread" for more fun :)

I managed to hold for 5 hours before ordering, wow :)
Even if it's not fantastic specs, I'm happy that I waited :p
 
Well, I'm getting the new base 13", but I'm sure as hell still waiting for Arrandale!

Phew! I've just about made it. Glad I waited. Core i5 Macbook Pro here I come!
 
I'm happy that I was waiting for the 15" and not the 13". Maybe they will give the 13" arrandale when they update the mb's and mba's
 
Survived just, almost bought a base 13" a couple of weeks ago, glad I didn't now. Gonna go for a 15", just trying to figure if the price difference is worth it between the mid to high, i7 and an extra 256MB VRAM...
 
I wanted to make the switch back in October but I held out until now. I'm getting the 13" and I'm happy with it. It suits my needs (work, email, netflix) (and plus my brother is getting a 27" i7 iMac that I can use for graphic intensive stuff)

I must admit that the timing of this release is pretty much perfect for me. I've been wanting to upgrade my machine for a while but between waiting for the update and lack of funds I haven't been able to.

Student loan came in this week and now I own a shiny new MBP 17".
