....let's start pregaming now my fellow Verizon Wireless subcribsers....

Are we waking up at 3am or lining up outside a store?

Why are you doing it over the phone.

Because I have to make one payment to achieve the 12 month mark before I am allowed to upgrade to the latest device, which can be completed in store or over the phone. The payment can only be made at the time of preorder. By calling on the phone, Verizon can process the payment and then immediately preorder for me. This is how it was explained to me.

If you have any advice, please share, as I have not preordered directly through Verizon before Over the phone.

You can use the My Verizon app, make the payment in app and preorder. Please note the payment for the last month wont bill until the phone ships.

I will most likely set my alarm to wake up 15-30 minutes before pre-orders go live and order online using either the Apple store app, Apple website, or Verizon website, whichever lets the order go thru first.

I learned a couple years ago not to bother lining up in front of a store. My local stores usually don't have too big of a line so I used to be able to line up an hour or two before they opened, but starting with the iPhone 6 it seems like they have started getting very limited quantities of the devices so I don't bother anymore. I lined up early and was the 5th person in line when the 6/6+ was released and my store didn't get a single black 6+ in stock so I walked away empty handed. Luckily I had already ordered online and got mine in the mail a few days later, but I was hoping to get one on release day and cancel the online order.

I buy outright, no more contracts or payment plans for me. They have jacked up their prices way too much on the new plans for me to mess with them. I'm only paying $15 per line for 7 phones and $10 for an iPad on my old More Everything plan, switching to the new plans makes that go up to $20 per line, which increases my bill by $45 alone. Moving from 10GB to unlimited makes my bill go up by about $100.

Question
I will be adding a new line to my account (perfect credit, no deposit, ect) to get the new iPhone from Verizon.
Will I have to put any money out of pocket up front? Like sales tax or anything?

I've preordered the last 3-4 years but i'm on the fence about pre-ordering this year. The Keynote will help me make my decision.

Super excited to pre-order with Verizon this year! Disappointed there isn't subsidized pricing anymore.

All Set to preorder. Cleared any account questions and will be preordering through the
Application.

I noticed a while back that Apple's site now allows Verizon customers to purchase under the Verizon Device Payment Plan. I don't believe that was possible through Apple's site when the 7/7+ released. I wonder if that's a better route than the Verizon site?

I saw this as well. Anyone else have thoughts on this? Which might be better, using the Verizon application or Apple directly? Any disadvantages? Thanks for any feedback.

I did a moch upgrade, it wouldnt allow me to do it online because I have an active device payment agreement and had to go in store. Try running one now and see if it works for you.

Same here. I think people will need to pay off their device in full ahead of time in order to purchase from Apple.

I have to make one more device
Preordering over the phone with Verizon. I have to make one payment to upgrade early, then proceeding to preorder the model I want over the phone. Hopefully this goes well.
I have $36 left to reach 50% to upgrade early so my bill auto pays on Sept.13. Hopefully after my bill is paid, I only have a few bucks left to pay to upgrade then I can pre-order on Friday. iPhone Edition, here I come.
