Ordered On April 29, 2015 - Picked Up at Apple store on May 28, 2015

Gold 1.3 GHz Intel Core M

Kind of funny how a supposed failure of a product that no one wanted and has been roundly derided for being an overpriced toy is virtually sold out everywhere and is on backorder for months at many Apple authorized online stores. Did Apple massively misjudge demand or are there really this many people buying it?

I'm in the US, and I ordered from MacMall (to save on sales tax) on 4/20 and have thus far received ETA updates of 5/21 > 7/3 > 6/3 > 6/9 > 8/25!

I called this morning, and they said the latest notification from their supplier indicated late August. That's 3 months from now, and that would be over 4 months from the date of order if that ETA actually holds up. That's insane. I'll likely cancel my order and bite the bullet and pay the sales tax to get it sooner.

p.s. MacMall did ship the USB C adapter cable. I got that 3 weeks ago. Whoopee!

That is ridiculously insane! How is an extra 3 months worth $60-80 savings in sales tax?? Your time must not be worth very much to you! You're essentially saving between $1-1.35 a day. Definitely not worth it IMHO. I'd gladly pay $75 to have mine today.

It was ridiculous! I did cancel my MacMall order when B&H Photo got some in stock. Arrives Monday! :)

A little presumptuous of you on the rest. If this was for work or I really needed it right away, then I'd pay the $125 in sales tax. If there was no other choice, then of course the tax wouldn't stop me from buying one. In the last six years of buying Macs and iPads, I've saved about $1,200 in taxes. I have a pretty typical income, and having a little patience affords me the discretion to buy a MacBook because I want one. That's some good advice for the youngsters out there. ;)

Hey, no worries, wasn't aware you got a CTO model, or lived in such a high sales tax location - assumed base model 5-7% sales tax :p

Also not suggesting that in general it isn't worth it to save a few bucks, of course you should! Just in this specific case, and I'm sure you agree, 3 months isn't worth $125. Glad you got what you wanted in a reasonable time frame!

My usb-c adaptor and I are still waiting for the base model macbook that was ordered a month ago. :(

I was in the Apple store in MN yesterday and they had all models of the Silver and Gold in stock but said they will probably not get Space Gray for a long time. I was almost temped to get the 512 Silver but decided to be patient for the 1.3 Space gray. I figured as expensive as these are better to get what I really want in speed and color compared to the instant gratification of walking out with a new computer.

Any of you who are close to stores that have ordered standard models I would suggest you try a store instead of waiting. Based on what they have been saying to me they get stock every week.

After visiting Europe, Scandinavia, & Asia on business over the last five weeks, you can safely say that if you actually find a Retina MacBook for sale in a retail store it`s more to do with luck than Apple`s ability to deliver.

Personally I have just moved on, if I Apple intends this to be the future of sales they are more than welcome to it. Simply a waste of time visiting store`s to only get the same blank expression and answer.

Helped a client order from Macconnection yesterday. On some string here, it was noted they had stock. She required a 512 and color was not important. The last one available was a Silver 1.2.
During the process, she hit an Add button a second time (fixed later) and the second unit in her cart said "Backorder" so I guess she snagged the last 512 in stock. Arrives in 2 days.

When I first checked 3 days ago, they had 1.3s but only 256g models. They seem to be all gone now.

We found all of the adapters at BB. Seemed to be in stock in most stores.

Just ordered from pcconnection. They had gold and silver models in stock. Ordered the 1.2 512gb gold with overnight Saturday shipping (@$70). Cancelled my space grey order with apple. Hope they ship today!

Was poking around best buy's website to see if I could order one for my cousin.

As of Fri, Jun 5, 10:33am Pacific, bestbuy.com has the following models in stock (ships within 1 business day):
1.1/256 Silver
1.2/512 Silver
1.1/256 Space Gray

The rest are backordered (4-7 weeks)

I don't know how you guys have been so patient. I ordered mine a week ago and I'm already going crazy.

I said screw it, cancelled my order and drove 2 hrs to the nearest apple store and got a gold one. I should have done this 3 weeks ago.

Everyone thinks stock is dead everywhere. They make um' all day and stock resumes.
Same story every year. People never pay attention to history, even the last 12 months ;)
