The only issue still standing is that I show several different lists of locations. My weather app on my iPhone is what everything Watch shows. In the Watch app on my iPhone, I only see Cupertino and New York. On my Watches Weather app, I show all my locations and “current location” now, but the complication doesn’t always show the weather data. I go into Settings>Weather on my Watch itself and go to Default Location. That shows everything but “current location” as an option.

To get the complication working, you must select a city in the weather settings on the Watch and select the same city in the weather app/complication on the Watch as all or it doesn’t show. (Conflicting defaults.) Do NOT open the weather settings on your iPhone because it will undo your settings and create conflict on the Watch.

I’ve got to head to bed. I’m going to try this tomorrow, unless someone else wants to try before I can… uninstall the weather app on your iPhone and then unpair/reset the Watch and set up as new. Turn off Bluetooth on the Watch and download Weather back to your iPhone.

So the weather app is supposed to be the stone in the shoe here? Seems insane this hasn't been fixed during the beta stages - the battery life if nowhere near good on my Ultra any more. Funny enough does it sound like almost all with Ultra 2 have great battery life and isn't affected

As I have explained 10 times ... on your iPhone in weather.app, add a dummy city, then delete it. It will sync city list to the watch.

Both myself and my wife have aw6
I updated mine to both ios 10 and iOS 10.01 battery lasts 9 hours max was 22
I only had time to update my wife’s watch to ios10
Her battery life is still at approx 90% of previous whereas mine has dropped to 40% of previous.
has anyone else found this?

My partner and I both have a Stainless Steel Series 4 Apple Watch (now running 10.0.1.).

Both watches were able to last the entire day before the update, now one of them is exhibiting these issues, while the other is fine.

We've unpaired, restored/reinstalled etc etc, waited a few days to see if its just the software "thinking about it", but its still draining a percent for every minute you use it, and draining slower, but still way too fast when even just left on the desk.

As per someones suggestion above, we've just uninstalled all third party apps in case something isn't playing nicely with OS 10.

Having seen how widespread this is, I'm guessing 10.0.2 isn't too far away.

I’d love to see a poll as to how widespread this is. There are always complaints about battery life after every OS release but this seems far beyond the norm.

I’m surprised Macrumours has ignored the issue. (If they have documented it, I missed it).

Thanks Apple for reminding my why I wait for the .1 or later versions.

OMG I THINK I FOUND THE PROBLEM!!!!

On your iPhone, open the Watch app and go to General>Apple ID.

Are you signed in?

Check your Watch. If the complication is working now, congrats, I think I just solved the problem.
I was signed in all the time, battery life still sucks.

If you get rid of the weather complication and widget does the battery life improve?

My launch day 41mm series 7 is also affected:
Got up at 5 AM, haven't used the watch actively at all, now it's around 3:30 PM and battery is at 40%.

On watchOS 8 and 9 the watch still had around 70% battery after 10 hours...

Yes, all widgets removed and a watch face without any complications. It's not very consistent as well, yesterday my watch was already dead after 10hrs, today I have 25% left... usage is the same, basically nothing, except sitting in the office and some notifications.

watch 7 on 10.01. I removed the weather complication from the modular watch face yesterday. Today my battery life was back to pre 10. So will see what it’s like tomorrow as others have reported a good day then a bad day

I notice the same things as everyone with my watch 6. I updated and like the snoopy watch face. My battery capacity is at 88% which isn't too bad for an old watch, I put it on the charger and noticed only 80% charge the next morning, so I turned off the optimizer and got eventually the 100%. for me I am guessing the animations with Snoopy eats a lot of charge as some other options do. I did order a new watch to arrive someday. It will be interesting to see if it has the same battery issues. Both watches , the old and the new to arrive are the GPS + Cellular which probably has a lot to do with the battery drain. I would guess in a couple of weeks, we get an update to address the fix

Well clearly neither of us read, because I stated to do that in another fix post too.

Ill try pre OS10 watch face as well. I also barely get 1.5 days out of the ultra, i hope Apple is going to fix it soon!
I haven’t noticed any change at all. AOD and using the new Modular Ultra face, with elevation on the bezel and date and battery complications (like a clean face generally). Hard to assess and compare with others as there are so many variables. But I’m getting the same battery life as with OS9.

I have the same concerns. My 45mm S9 was taken off the charger at 7:28 this morning and now, at 1:19 PM, it’s at 41%.

This includes a 55 minute outdoor walk during which I was using my AirPods Pro 2 to listen to a downloaded podcast from the watch. It’s about the same as what my S5 (replaced ~1.5yrs ago, 89% battery health) has been giving me on WatchOS 10.

I will definitely be returning my S9 if this does not improve in the next several days.

Edit: For reference, the S9 was set up as new and I’m using a basic face with no complications and background app refresh turned off.

I’m happy to report that after a weird Saturday and half of Sunday my battery life is seemingly normal or even great now. I went to bed yesterday with 30% left after a day that included a ~60 minute workout and a couple hours out and about without my phone, texting and listening to podcasts. After 6 hours off the charger today and light use I am at 84%.

Could it be the new stacks that are problem as well? Keeping all these stacks updated must pull data and battery?

My phone I'm hoping is just still indexing and will settle in by EOW. Does AW OS do similar indexing?
Indexing is a myth carried over from Macs, where it was true to some extent in the past.
iOS devices (and derivatives such as watchOS) are smart enough not to do intense background processing unless they're attached to power. This is why a new phone won't do face recognition in photos for a few days, and Music and Podcasts are only synchronised to the watch when it's plugged in.

I've updated my S7 two days ago because i had to reset and re-pair it with my new iPhone. I charged it to 95% and turned it off. Yesterday i turned it on, put it on my wrist and did not pay attention to it during work. Then i noticed it was draining quite fast when i got home from work.

Normally i would lose about 30-35% of charge when wearing the watch for about 12 hours. Yesterday i lost 55% of charge after 12 hours.

Battery health itself is still on 94% so i can make it through the day but it seems like there is something really wrong with WatchOS10.
FWIW i decided to do a clean install after i lost 10% in one hour this morning.

After all my music was synced i pulled the watch off the charger and wore it for about 9 hours. It went from 100% to 74%. So it looks like the clean install did help for me. Finger crossed for now.
