Children please...

didn’t your mommy or daddy ever tell you it doesn’t matter whether they are black or white, on the inside they are all the same!!

(well, except the 8GB black one, but we still should not discriminate on size either).

Imagine what other name calling there would be if Apple also released a Yellow and Red one too?

LOL! Any other special precautions I should take before handling your greasy, scratched black iPhone? Perhaps a body condom?

The white iphone is not rare at all. Thats pretty much all the apple stores have right now. Black sells out right when shipments come in. White will look worse when scratched. White will look worse with a skin on it once grit and grime gets in the cracks. Black is where its at.

You do know there are other countries?

I think the thread starter is from the UK and White is difficult to get for upgraders

To the OP. The white 16GB iPhone 3G is only available in the UK through Apple stores. from what i understand people over here in the UK are going after the black version so there are plenty of white iPhones available in the Apple Stores

but ended up getting a white one as that is all they had. Boy am I glad I did. White is amazingly slick looking. Like the white from the androids in that Bjork music video.

Anyway, you can see pics of my white one in my Flickr photostream.

While I was in line on launch day, I was debating between white and black. When the doors opened, there was no white display model to view, so I went with black. I've never regretted the decision. Although black does show fingerprints more than I imagine the white model would, and although the white one may actually look "sexier" when turned over on its face so that only the back is visible...who keeps their phone that way? As soon as you turn it over to use it as it must be used, the contrast between the black screen/front parts and the white edge is just too stark for me. To each their own, anyway! :)

I'm trading in my black 8gb for a white 16gb tomorrow at the AT&T store. The smudges and visible lint is just too obvious against a black background. Also, the little dents and hairline scratches on a black show up much more prominently.

My old white iPod which got mishandled through the years bigtime doesn't show scratches as easily.

It is a fact. Fingerprints and grease show up on the black MUCH more then the white.

facts are facts.

(that's why i bought a white. plus I just think the black just looks plastic like ;( )

The biggest FACT is that the most fingerprints, sweat, and smears show up on the glass front of the phone.

So, keep arguing over the back colors, I'm sure that makes a big difference.

Sorry. Did not want to start black vs white argument.
Mine is black and i am getting a case so the grease etc. is not a problem.
It was really just a HO (humble opinion).

My story is the same. But again, it's just an opinion. I can see why people like the white, but I prefer the black. If you are thinking about the color you want, think of a piano. The black is the glossy color of the baby grand itself, and the white is the color of the keys. I think white shows dirt more easily because I have to clean my piano keys every once in a while (and yes, I do wash my hands), but when you touch the piano, it does get a fingerprint. I just use pledge to clean off the finger prints.

***I don't, however, recommend using pledge to clean your iPhone. LOL :D

If you are upgrading from an original iPhone you can only get the black phone. You cannot buy an iPhone 3G from an Apple Store and you must get one from an O2 or Carphone Warehouse store.

Why does it matter what other people like.
Honestly when I first heard about the white, I said no way. Then A guy I work with went and got the white because it was the only one the apple store had at the time. This past weekend my I had the luxury of choosing whichever model I wanted when I went to get mine. I looked at them and chose white.
Make up your own mind, don't let others make it up for you
