That is probably the most annoying post I have read in a long time. Seriously... 6 cycles? The key makes a noise when I press it? Give me a break. I'm really showing restraint by not saying all the things I want to. No wonder apple products cost so much when you have clowns like this purchasing their products.

I'm with this guy.

The problems you described here are very small and un-problematic in the long term. It's your own fault you got one with a duff display.

When my old Macbook Pro broke (several issues with the LCD looking like a mosaic, they replaced everything about 5 times, then switched), Apple replaced it with a Unibody Macbook Pro for free. I couldn't be more thankful. I got it, it had a screen patched with dead pixels. I traveled 2 hours to get an exchange (no genius bar near me had appointments), and the manager went through 4 units with me, all of which had problems. However, they were problems like big chunks taken out of the body of the laptop and the manager was embarrassed. She sat with me until we found a perfect one. However, this was the manager and not me. It seems to me that you've shot yourself in the foot by going back and fore about a 'clicky' enter key. Now you have to deal with what you have got. Too bad. You should have counted your lucky stars when they replaced it the first time.

And now, for a success story:

I had a white macbook from May of 2007 and I have had to get it fixed by AppleCare for random reasons:

1) The white bezel was getting dirty. I thought this was a one time thing
2) The white bezel got dirty again, but this time around I put a marware palm rest and lived with it
3) The HDD crashed, and had to get it fixed
4) The screen had a green line down it, and so I had the screen replaced
5) Airport card was messing up (though I later realized this was a mistake)
6) The screen had another green line and a red line.

I got tired of having this machine replaced over and over, so I asked for a new laptop entirely. The Apple Store not only let me do that, but also let me "upgrade" to a silver aluminum one for the difference of cost ($250 as a student). I received amazing service every fix and an amazing transaction to move to my new unibody and I love it!

I don't know guys, I feel really bad for the OP. 1800 bucks is hard for a student to come by, believe me I know! If he's ok with using windows, I think he will actually be very pleased with the think pad. Those are very good quality computers.

Yeah he's such a cash-strapped student that he opted for the $700+ SSD. So much about this story just screams troll.

Let me guess OP, you go to SUNY Stony Brook? I graduated from there and I guess annoying people still go there. Just sell it and buy something different.

Holy god please don't tell me you took it into the Apple Store saying, "My laptop is dirty can you fix it?"

I agree with the OP and aswell as that - I agree with others opinions where they say it was the OPs fault.

There was occasions on where he could have kept the product and just asked for a particular part replacement rather than a whole machine. That is just crazy.

I understand things which need the whole machine to be replaced - but for a single keyboard button, you must be mad on the head to get a new machine for that.

Holy god please don't tell me you took it into the Apple Store saying, "My laptop is dirty can you fix it?"

LOL! Laughed at this.

Please Stop Defending Apple

I think i understand the OP point. like one of the guys said, if you buy a Ferrari you wouldn't expect it to come with scratch even if it is only few cms. Also you won't accept if the seller told you that the car had few miles on it. you would expect a perfectly new car, am i right?

And please stop defending apple and make them like the victims. Yes i love apple products, and yes overall the products quality are good, but i don't think anybody disagree that the quality are not as good as let's say 5 years ago.

hey OP, good luck with the IBM, if i ever go back to PC (hope never!) i will definitely either go for a Sony or an IBM.

Wasting what, $12,000 for minor issues such as a clicky key? Battery usage that never affected him? He never should have gotten a new computer wasting an excess of $2,000 for each issue. What he should have gotten was a new keyboard and/or a new battery should each problem not be correctable. By law, under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and Section 2-719 of the Uniform Commercial Code, effective in nearly every state, a company is required to give you a refund or other applicable remedies should they fail to repair or replace a product of appropriate stature even if the warranty does not specify so or if the warranty runs out before the problem is resolved. Should the OP feel that he or she needs a refund he can get aid the Federal Trade Commission or the Attorney General for the state he or she is living in should he or she live in the States.

Haha I just complained that it is lame that they get dirty so fast, so they said via AppleCare we replace the bezel. The first time I thought it was my fault so I felt bad but when it happens twice I assumed it was just a "feature" of the product, so I purchased the Marware palm rest and that did the job.

typical troll B.S.

very, very little of your story rings true, OP.

Take your troll life elsewhere.

cheers!

I'm surprised you even got away with 2 replacements, a broken return key? And you demanded a replacement, thats just ridiculous. You sound like a spoiled brat, this is just abusing warranty acts put into place to help people.

Thread revival!

But, I've read the first post. He replaced the ENTIRE laptop because of 6 cycles? That's pathetic. If I were him, I would ask them for a new battery.

My first 13" Macbook Pro had flickering purple lines down the side of the screen. Thankfully my replacement from Amazon is completely perfect.

On the one hand, OP is a little ridiculous but on the other hand I really think stories like this confirm the rather noticeable decline in quality control of apple computers.

I love my Air, but it doesn't seem as well-built as my 2005 iBook G4 which I still use. I switched my Air twice before finding one that was less flawless than the others.

You returned a computer for having 6 cycles on the battery? What is wrong with you? If I were Apple I'd tell you to take a hike.

At the very MOST you should have just asked for a replacement battery.
x2 that is absurd. 6 cycles is nothing, equivalent to new. To complain about 6 cycles is just silly and foolish.

what's up with you guys?!?!
If we pay for a new thing we do want a good and new thing!
I bought an ipod shuffle fpor my gf,it came with a minor scratch,I just turned it back,I payed for a brand new thing!
I think it must be the same with this guy..55eur or 2000eur you have the right to have your product new and fine...
For me it is just it..
I guess apple is loosing quality..my gf had to open 3 ipod shuffle cases to find one that wasn't scratched or something...

Wow, there is 6 minutes of my life I will never get back. Seriously dude, Apple bent over backwards to keep a customer, and all you could do was point out non-existent flaws that 99.9% of people on here would take. Those who say they wouldnt probabl dont own a MB or MBP. If youre so impressed by the eeePC then go get you one. Wih the $1800 you spent on the MB, you could buy a eeePC, and when that fails cause they all do, you'll have enough money to buy 3 more before you start getting to the price range of decent equipment. I've had 5 laptops from Apple, all better than the countless PC crap ones. I once bought a Toshiba Satellite from Best Buy with 3yr warranty. In the three years, I received 7 additional models replaced under my warranty. 3 were HD failures, the rest were RAM failures. Hows that for service? All Best Buy would tell me was its not uncommon for Toshiba to have that many failures as they use low end components..
