Ok with the first Yankees Red Sox series starting tonight this is the secondary thread for that discussion.

My prediction: Game 1: Schilling throws a perfect game, Pettitte throws out his back.
Game 2: Beckett throws a perfect game. Karstens throws a football for a strike.
Game 3: Matsuzaka throws a perfect game, Wright throws up.

And then I'll wake up.

You know that wont happen because A-Rod is going to hit 4 grand slams in each game.:)

Figures A Rod's best season with the Yankees is probably his last one with them :p
This is A-Rods opt out year but he wants to be a Yankee and if he has a great year and an even better playoffs expect the Yankees to give him an extension.

My (biased) predictions.

Game 1: Pettitte dominates. A-rod homers
Game 2: Beckett struggles, as does Karstens, but the potent Yankee offense allows them to win
Game 3: Matsuzaka dominates the Yankees. 10+ K
A-Rod will continue to be hot through the end of April.

Dice-K will get a real test Sunday night. Im sure that will be his toughest lineup ever to pitch too. I don't think 10k's will happen. Maybe 7 but I do think the Yankees will hit him some. If anyone can put fear into a pitchers eyes its A-Rod.

If he has a monster year with gaudy stats,I'm sure other teams will be throwing money at him as well (funny how guys in a contract year seem to always do good)..It'll come down to the money in the end, just as always..

Is there anything the Sox like better than the sight of Mariano Rivera at Fenway Park? Please, Joe Torre. Use Rivera more. He's no Papelbon, that's for sure. ;)

Such that:

If the Yankees can't even hold a 4 run lead against a team dressed as Christmas Trees, then I like the Sox chances in the East this year.

:)

Woot Woot! A-rod had two homeruns tonight!!! (too bad he couldn't get a hit in the 9th)

But I'm really scared, what's wrong with Rivera? I hope its just a short rough patch in his career, he's blown his share of starts, but its pretty rare that he will bomb two in a row.

Rivera hasn't pitched since Sunday. Its rust that he has to work off.

I hope so, he's never failed us before, I just worry every season that batters will start to figure him out, and then he won't be effective anymore...

No offense to Rivera- he's very good. But the Red Sox own him. It's been a long time since I got worried when I saw him come into the game.

That game was $%@^$ sweet.

WOOOO GO SOX

Man I love Sox-Yankees games. Even in April it's a playoff atmosphere. :D

Seriously, don't worry. He starts every year off poorly (granted, not this bad) and he has been extremely underused. He'll turn it around, don't worry.

Yessss, RedSox win. This game had me yelling at the television.

But, I must agree. Rivera gets better as the year goes on. He got rocked last year in the opener as well if I remember correctly. It is still fun getting to beat up on him.

Good to see the bottom of the order come thru is right! No better time either. Rivera has always had trouble with the Sox,no matter what month..

Id rather Rivera pitch like crap now and get it out of his system before October.
