You're thinking of the current notched iPhone design.

I'm thinking of a future device that has the current left, bottom & right bezel also on the top, with Face ID, camera & sensors hidden underneath the screen.

With just a plain glass screen to look at, people are going to pick up the phone upside down more often, as there won't be a notch to help them figure out which end is the top.

Hence why my theory of Apple going down the symmetrical route - also no more "You're holding it wrong" gags. 😀

Okay sure, when we figure out how to aim a camera through a screen, it'll be perfectly possible. It's just not possible with the current design, and for all intents and purposes it probably shouldn't until the under-screen camera is possible.

Never say never...

I remember when Steve Jobs introduced iPod Photo years ago. It was only for photo because the screen was too small (2") to watching videos comfortable, even when competitors use similar tiny screens to play video. Guess what... next year Steve Jobs introduced iPod Video with "so much bigger display" 2,5"...

Strange enough, there were iPod nano's with 2" display (3rd and 4th gen) and 2,2" (5th gen) and suddenly screen size was not a problem to play video.

Apple changed their mind a lot, so they can bring Touch ID (under display) back. They can always say that by this move, user can secure device even more than ever (fingerprint + face scan simultaneously)

Don’t bet your life on it. The iPad Pro ditched Touchid too. Touchid will stick around as long as Apple offers devices with a home button which would be older or entry level versions of there phones and ipads. Faceid is more secure and will only improve. The passcode is the second or backup sercurity measure and a third is not necessary..
