4. The iPhone Mini doesn't have a market in India or China, because phones are used as primary computing devices and larger displays are valued.
The 13 Mini represented higher percentage of iPhone 13 sales in China (5%) than in the US (3%).

Still low in both cases, but that means the relative market for the Mini 13 in China was ≈5/3 = 1.7 x larger in China than in the US.

I don't know the reason for the difference, but two obvious possibilities are (a) less disposable income among iPhone buyers in China than in the US; and (b) smaller average hand sizes in China than in the US.

As someone who loves the mini, the only thing I don’t like is the battery life. My 13m is now over 2 years old and I think I’m going to have the upgrade in calendar Q4. Might get a refurb of the larger 13 or 14 if it’s available.
Just get a new battery. After market you can probably get a bigger Mah

Thanks for the suggestion. Have you had any experience of these? I’d be concerned about putting one of these in my phone after my adventures with an Anker power bank recently, which caught on fire (a MagSafe one).

Apple charges $89 in the US to replace the iPhone 13 mini battery.
Do you remember the turn around time for the replacement? I’ve wanted to get my battery fixed, but can’t be without my phone for a day.

The last time Apple changed my battery at my Apple store, they bricked my iPhone.

They replaced the iPhone for free but I ended up without a phone for close to a week while they ordered a replacement.

I've had it done while I've waited and I've had it done overnight. My store can do it while you wait unless there's a lot of them to do and then it's next day. I would just take the SIM out and put it in my iPhone 7+ until I got the 13 mini back. This is how we've replaced batteries for other family members.

I thought that in order to have Apple replace your phone battery the health had to be really low, like under 85%. Mine has been at 85% for a while now.

I think that you are correct. Maybe 80% as that's the threshold for MacBooks.

I just checked and I'm at 90% so maybe this thing will go for another 2 1/2 years before they will replace the battery.

I looked it up and it has to be 80% for warranty or applecare+. Otherwise it seems $89?

Happened to me a few years ago. They had a new device that day, so maybe they ran out of your specific configuration. But also make sure you do your backups before going in.

Yes.

But I don't know if they will replace it above 80%, even if you pay full price.

If you insist they will replace it, just not for free. After all, the number displayed is just a guesstimate of physical health, based on detected voltages changes, controlled by Apple's code. I have an iPhone 6s with 83% health, has been there for quite a while, and will go from 100% to 1% in 1 hour, 30% to 1% in 10 minutes if I load up a demanding game. Take it with a grain of salt.

The problem with mini series was more about pricing, but not form factor. They were too expensive for what it serves for, being just a standard small device.

I wish Apple may revive the iPhone Xs or 11 Pro with some new processor, and call it SE-4. Curvy form is more appealing than square edges.

I don’t really care about being curvy, square or a mix of both like the current design, as long as they release an LCD 5.8” iPhone with the latest SoC.

I know it is highly unlikely Apple goes back to LCD, that’s why at least I ask Apple to reduce a bit the size of the regular iPhone 17, just like they’re gonna do with the plus, to improve the one hand maneuvering. A slight reduction in width could do the trick, honestly, leaving us with a handy 5.9” smartphone that could well be marketed as a 6” iPhone.

For me the problem was the camera. Who needs an ultra-wide camera? If my 13 mini had a 1x and 2x. I’d still be using it. I went 15 pro just for the camera. I’d much rather have a smaller phone. The 15 pro feels too big. And I’m a 5’ 11” man. Today’s phones all feel like I need to use two hands.

For Mini fans, it looks like your best option going forward will be the next SE, which is supposed to be based on the base iPhone 14 body. That’s really not an unreasonable size, although it’s 3-tenths of an inch larger than you’d like. Or you can pick up the current SE, which is quite a bit smaller than you’d like.

As an aside, I personally wonder if Apple can make the Mini work again using stacked battery cell technology that is just beginning to arrive in its products now. But the truth is Apple is no doubt only interested in products it can sell a zillion of. Niche products need not apply.

As an example, the iPhone Plus is perfect for me now but it’s clear Apple is going to mess with it to push more people toward the Pro and Pro Max.

You may want to check specs again

All the options, even the current SE, are just bigger heavier and bigger... and bigger and heavier...on and on

It's just nuts for Apple to not have one single option, of any spec level, that is the 13 Mini size or smaller

I stand by what I said. Go back and read what I wrote. You may not like it but the options I outlined are the best for Mini owners.

You said the "you can pick up the current SE, which is quite a bit smaller than you’d like."

That is incorrect - it's larger than the current 13 Mini

The "next SE" (supposed to be based upon the iPhone 14 body) is even larger

You're presenting options that aren't appealing to most Mini folks -- who want that size or smaller (it's why most of us have the Mini ... the "mini" part of it)
