True, but we all know that there is going to be a next gen iPhone come out soon.
We also had no idea of the Smart Covers existence. It does seem Apple has made enormous strides in secrecy. Possibly compensating partners well for no leaks. It's entirely possible we'll see a completely redesigned and larger iPhone.
I am so sick of this 4s crap.
Who cares what the outside of the phone looks like? Are you telling me if they keep the iPhone 4 look but add an A5, better camera, etc it will be a 4s, versus if they redesigned the outside and then put THE SAME A5, CAMERA, ETC then it becomes a "5".
This whole debate makes no sense. The next iPhone, whenever it's released, whatever it's called, whatever it looks like, we all know the guts will be upgraded. That is all anyone can really expect in an update anyway. I don't think the look of the phone dictates whether they call it a 4s or a 5 or a whatever.

Apple is also known for having multiple designs floating around to pinpoint leakers. Generally, the actual design is not known till announced, the iPhone 4 being a major exception (no one believed it though because of the amount of glass and breaks in the frame).
I mostly agree with you and am also sick of the 4S vs 5 controversy. It's the 5 no matter what, even if Apple calls it something else, like 4S. They will not release the iPhone 5 next year when it will be the 6th generation iPhone. Anyway, the point I disagree with you, and only slightly is a hardware redesign. Yes, the inside hardware is really what matters, but at this point, with so much rumor and speculation, a redesign would be a huge difference from just internal hardware because this would be the first screen size change on an iPhone ever. Personally, I am praying for a larger screen. But yes, no matter if it's an iPhone 4 lookalike or a new design with a new screen size, that wouldn't dictate the name.
I just wish Apple would give us a little taste. Maybe they could "leak" a picture of the corner of the iPhone 5 or something.
Its not just Foxconn. dorms at the factories are more the norm than the exception in China. And the workers can leave. They basically get room and board 2-3 meals a day.
I would suggest keeping your opinions rooted in fact, not fantasy, regardless of what the media wants you to believe here in the US.

Aside from the screen size- the point I was trying to make is you could take any casing and put iPhone "5" parts in it and it would be a badass phone. So many people are hung up on a redesign. The first 3 iPhones did not evolve all that much. The 4 was the first real 100% redesign. If they decide to keep that look another year why would anyone be shocked? I'm not drawing conclusions here, I have 0 theories about what the new phone will look like. I'm just wondering why people would be so disappointed if the new phone had the same look as an iPhone 4. I don't mind the look at all, and with a new processor, camera, etc it will just be all the better.

lol, if they leaked a corner pic it would give the whole phone away, because it would show a new phone or a 4S. If it showed a 4S a lot of people would be pissed and possibly hurt apple sales due to people switching to another device instead of waiting for the new iPhone.
