I just came from a team meeting, and one of the guys who just got his Apple Watch said he heard that a new version is coming out in the Fall. So yeah, he's confused.

There is only software version 2.0 announced for the Apple Watch. There will be no new Apple Watch hardware announced this year.

I do hope whatever issues you're having are eventually resolved. But so much of what I'm reading seems to indicate that people were more interested in a fancy Fitbit than a communications device. If I had no interest in all the other things the watch does but only wanted an activity tracker I would have bought a Fitbit or Garmin. Prior to this device I was keeping an eye on the Pebbles and would probably have bought one if this hadn't materialized. The other functions which are still evolving will become more important to me as time goes on but for now it's just what I expected when I bought it.

I went into it looking for a nice-looking watch with notifications and activity tracker. For the first several weeks with my watch, I had exactly what I was looking for, and have been fully aware of evolving functions. The tough thing is having them arbitrarily change the function so that it doesn't work the way they said it would. Even with that, I'm still happy with the watch, still wearing it every day and trying to work around the change in function, all the while hoping they change it back ;)

No, I don't think they'll do that, that would kill holiday sales. The software and hardware will eventually line up though, either a new watch gets announced next spring along with watchoOS3, or it gets announced next fall.

This, yes. It wouldn't surprise me if we don't see a new watch until fall 2016, though it would behoove Apple to keep the watch as a spring release, so that folks who want to update every time something releases aren't trying to fund the replacement of 4-5 devices all in the same couple of months.

It'll be next year before there's a new apple watch version at the earliest. It's a new product line, and Apple will be learning lessons from customer's real life experiences and usage. Several of the promoted functions are gimmicky (sending a heart beat, or drawing a picture). Many people seem disappointed that it doesn't do anything the phone doesn't. It's fitness features don't yet keep up with those of dedicated sports watches. Changing these features may require re-engineering parts of the watch, but Apple will make it work brilliantly in time. With the amazing sales they've had, I wouldn't be surprised by a new version next autumn. I don't think it'll be 10 years, as one post-er has suggested.
