yes there are. but its like 20 to 1 ratio of dumb apps to useful ones.
..don't forget the duplicate apps. Like the Sports apps that have one app for each team.

It's like going to a flea market, you spend restless hours trying to look for something good. But there's only one good thing out of ten pieces of crap.

Actually it's more: want blinking annoying flash ads to suck up all your battery life?
Don't worry, it wont happen.
Who is deleting Tallest Skil's posts and why? The ones I saw didnt break any rules at all.
Yeah I find myself doing that too. I don't seem to notice the ads for the iPod touch, Nano or Macbooks - just the iPhone.Call me weird, but I actually stop what I'm doing and watch the commercial.

I love all the whining about "useless" apps.
Here's a tip: Go get a Blackberry then and have next to NO apps worth a crap.
You have choices.
Seems simple to me.
Facebook, Shazam, Urbanspoon, Cube Runner, Jelly Car, TwitterFon, GNotes, BeeJive, Comic Touch and Dictionary.com were all worth searching through the rubbish.
Yea yea, now where is the app for sending & receiving pics in text messages?
Yea yea, now where is the app for a video camera?
Seems the RAZR I use to have had those apps.![]()

I wonder what that ratio is on Windows (Mobile or otherwise)![]()
It's probably a lot lower, since they probably die off easier. That's the problem with the App Store, it perpetuates the garbage endlessly.
Die off easier? How do you mean? There's a _crap load_ of useless shareware for Windows still floating around out there. Visit download.com.
Or is the ease of use of the App Store a knock against it?
The ease of use is a knock against the App Store. Any Joe Schmoe can pay $99, make a fart app (or one-touch dialer), place it on the App Store, and potentially just forget about it. It would be nice if developers had to actively renew their apps once per year (or some specified amount of time). People will tons of crappy apps (that don't even sell) would likely just let them expire. Now, this would not remove the app from someone's iPhone (if, by some chance, someone loves the app), it would just remove it from the App Store (and in effect, de-clutter the it).
