Nah, the biggest update is when they give us underscreen Touch ID.

P.S. There’s no way Apple will call it iPhone Slim. If anything, they’ll call it iPhone Air. And no, it won’t be more advanced than iPhone Pro Max. Silly leakers.
Underscreen will definitely be the 20th anniversary iPhone in 2027. They will call it an all screen phone.

And before the iPhone 15 came out, the next year's iPhone 16 was going to be revolutionary. Same stuff every year. So thinner devices is the new technological marvel? The average person doesn't know how to do half of the things the iPhone cameras can do, and when is the last time you thought, "wow, this iPhone sure is slow? For the most part, we're bumping up against the end game of technological improvements for so many of our devices.

So many tech writers & YouTuber's, and a dwindling amount of actual stuff to write/broadcast about...

A minority option in this thread, but I’ll take thinner devices.

No, of course I don’t want them to bend. Sure, a touch more battery can be nice.

If you slap your phone into a case, the whole package can be thinner too!

And at least in my circles it’s rare to be entirely without a wall outlet or battery pack. Including commute, work, camping, hiking, biking, general travel, skiing, being at the beach… I don’t mind carrying a battery pack in my bag for those occasions in exchange for a slimmer phone in my pocket on all occasions.

My 15PM has a much better battery (health still at 99%) than the 14 Pro (89% at the same time) so it’s really feasible to skip the 16. However, the screen quality of the 15PM is noticeably worse - I have multiple obvious scratches on the screen and it’s the first iPhone in many years that really needs a screen protector. Apple always gives people reason to upgrade their phones.

Wish it was this year. Must be a bad year for iPhones if iPhone 17 rumors keep coming out.
We get it every year. Last year at this time, the 16 was going the be the phone to get. the 15 was going to be a placeholder phone. It’s part of the rumor cycle. 😆

What is the big deal about the under-the-screen fingerprint sensor? It seems a lot of people want it, but why?
to have it. so they can check the box. And then ask for the next feature on their endless list.

None of these would make me hesitate to get a 16 pro... Except for the 12gb of ram

With on device AI, I feel like buying a 16 pro with a measle 8gb might be limited for artificial intelligence

Although tbh, all I want is text stuff, like summarizing and audio to text

If the 16 pro has a more decent battery than 15 pro I'll prolly get it
Unless you plan to keep that phone for several years, 8GB is likely to be plenty for the next 2,3 or even 4 years of AI. It’s going to take some time for things to develop and I think you’ll be fine in the near term with 8GB. If you were getting a computer, I’d definitely go 16 minimum as you’ll probably keep that longer anyway.

You guys realize it took the iPhone 6 for these things to start to bend which was much thinner than current phones while being made of aluminum rather than titanium

I hope you're right ! I agree with you on the computer part 👍

The problem though is, 8gb is likely to be a limiting factor FOR APPLE and as per apples claims..I could defo see em limiting several important features due to "8gb doesn't cut it " ...

The only way to make iPhone 17 as slim as the iPad Pro is if they were to make the battery space smaller. Since the circuit will no longer be dual layer as in iPad. For iPhone 17 Slim to have the same battery would means Apple have some battery breakthrough. Which I seriously doubt will happen.
