I seriously doubt they change the camera array that way. They are pushing 3D spatial video and the cameras need to be next to each other in landscape.

What is the big deal about the under-the-screen fingerprint sensor? It seems a lot of people want it, but why?

I don't understand this either.. Face ID is so fast and convenient. The other day I was setting up an older iphone for my FIL and I realized how much slower and cumbersome touch ID is in comparison. Not sure why anyone would want to go back to that.

the good stuff is always the following year...
Hence why I don't care about leaks anymore. I just enjoy the phone I have and upgrade when I want to. Tech is always advancing. If I fancy an upgrade I'm not going to wait "in case the next model is better" as that's pretty much always the case. I currently use a 15 Pro and am happy with it. If the 16 Pro's improvements tickle my fancy I'll upgrade, if not I'll wait to see what the 17 series brings.

So basically everything that can be updated and put into the Max model, but instead they're creating yet another tier to rip customers off.

Just as much as I would love a thinner phone, I would opt for a thicker phone that eliminates the camera bump.

I'm still on my 12 Mini - sans case. I'll buy replacements on the bay before I upgrade to a larger phone with more camera than I could ever use. When Apple no longer supports the 12, I'll consider a phone from another brand.

I certainly wouldn't.

I doubt if the 600,000+ repeat Apple customers who purchase an iPhone everyday of the year (on the average) wouldn't want to go back to 11 year old tech that was more cumbersome.

On the other hand... no doubt there are people wishing cars still had carburetors.

So basically if you want the cool new features of the iPhone 16 just go buy a 15 Pro on sale now and as a bonus you'll get ProMotion on top that the 16 still won't have. What a sales pitch.

Relocated Cameras

Along with a thinner and lighter design, the high-end iPhone 17 could feature the first major rear camera overhaul. Rumors suggest that the cameras could be relocated from the top-left corner of the iPhone to the top center, which could result in a design similar to the Google Pixel.

The Pixel 8 Pro has a raised band across the back of the device that houses a trio of cameras, a laser detect auto focus sensor, and a flash.

Apple is still testing designs for the iPhone 17, but the relocated camera bump is a possibility.
Whether or not the bump moves, I doubt the cameras will be arranged like the Pixel because that would stop it form being able to take Spatial photos/videos for the Vision Pro unless they were portrait only.

Weird choice to change the design to be thinner AND change from a notoriously strong material like Titanium (which they made such a big deal about during the last iPhone launch) to a notoriously soft material like aluminium. Either Apple have been sniffing glue, or these leakers are just saying stuff. Either way, I wish this was this years iPhone and not another year away.
Meh. Apple made a big deal about Titanium on the Powerbooks until they went to Aluminum on the following Powerbooks. Designs change.

If they add a 2nm chip to the iPhone Slim X Ultra model, in addition to 12gb of ram, then that thing will sell like hot cakes 🥞

If mass production doesn’t start till end of 2025 for 2nm chip then it would be for the iPhone 18 series, but Apple could entice TMSC to produce the 2nm faster to implement in the iPhone Slim X Ultra model

Why is this Article written to be Misleading ?

Apple is rumored to be using a new display coating.

The new coating is said to have improved anti-reflective properties and better scratch resistance than the current Ceramic Shield coating. It's been described as a "super-hard anti-reflective layer" in leaks.

Apple is a Samsung CustOmer, they buy Samsungs Displays. Want to see what new AntiReflective Coating they will get ? Head over to BestBuy and Pick Up an S24 Ultra, and you’ll see for yourself.

We NEED to stop using Language that makes it sound as if Apple has a Display Factory For iPhones.
This comment itself is rather misleading.

First, Apple sources their iPhone displays from a variety of manufacturers, including Samsung, LG, BOE, and others. This is just for the panel, which is a separate component from the glass that covers it.

Ceramic Shield is manufactured by Corning and was jointly developed by both it and Apple; the latter company provided both funding and research support and as a result has exclusive distribution rights to the material. It's possible the iPhone 17 will use a new version of Ceramic Shield, or Apple could opt to use Corning's Gorilla Glass Victus 2 which is what the S24 Ultra uses. Either way it's not accurate to imply Apple has no input on certain engineering efforts that go into the parts, even if Apple doesn't directly manufacture them, or that the displays between the iPhone and Samsung models are identical.

every new iphone release is the "most expensive phone to date". their prices on these things are just ridiculous! I remember buying my 4s for only a few hundred dollars, paid more than twice that for the 15PM

Your math does not add up.

The base iPhone 4S cost $649 in 2011. Inflation calculators tell me that's about $900 in today's money.

The iPhone 15 starts at $800

Either your memory is faulty or you're buying higher-end models, which is your choice, but not anyone else's fault.

And with a much faster processor so AI processing can be done on-phone.

Funny how people forget about that.
That’s the iPhone 16 (and iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max). Those are the iPhones that will be able to do on-phone AI processing.

This article is about the iPhone 17.

The cost was probably just a bit hidden for the person. We were still doing that $200 subsidized carrier-locked phone with a two year contract back in 2011.
