Apple has been gradually transitioning its products from Lightning to USB-C in recent years. This trend continued today with Apple updating the Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Trackpad accessories for the Mac with USB-C charging ports. The accessories have no other changes, meaning the Magic Mouse's charging port is still on the bottom.

For the time being, Apple is continuing to sell a Lightning version of the Magic Keyboard with a numeric keypad, but it lacks a Touch ID button. Apple has yet to release a USB-C version of this particular Magic Keyboard.

The list of Apple devices and accessories that are still sold with either a Lightning port or a Lightning connector is now quite small:

A new iPhone SE with a USB-C port is rumored to launch next year, while the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus should be discontinued next September.

Don’t forget Apple’s Beats branded PowerBeats Pro. While they have said are coming 2025 still not here yet and we have all been waiting a long time.

Now they just need to include high speed USB cables for all their products even if the cheap out on the USB controller.

Now all they need to do is add bluetooth pairing options 1, 2, 3 to allow easy switching and pairing of multiple devices like most decent keyboards have such as LogiTech...might actually buy the Magic Keyboard then
Has anyone tried using them wired connected to a dock? Does this work?

Apple expect you to use these accessories with Mac’s to switch devices all you have to do is connect them with the usbc cable to switch device.Logitech is a 3rd party accessory maker it’s not surprising they have that type of feature.

The previous Powerbeats pro have been discontinued officially and any inventory still available is only going to be sold until it’s done

Why would they do that? They’re Apple and don’t want you using their keyboard with unsightly Windows machines.

Sequoia also lets you drag your mouse across to the edge of the screen and it just transfers between the two Macs. Actually blew my mind when I first did it accidentally.

I still dispise USB-C, basically the most fragile connector I’ve ever used, I’ve had to restart my iPad several times because the USB-C connector simply will never connect, no matter what type of device I connect to it it just simply will have stopped working. Once I restart the iPad USB-C comes back online.

The lightning connector I’ve used since it’s inception and basically have had zero issues with it on any device ever. Yes the cables wore out, yes sometimes I had to clean out the plug, but it was the most indestructible plug I’ve ever seen.
my AirPods Max and my AirPods Pro 2 all have lightning, my new USB-C AirPods Pro. I simply use my Apple Watch charger to charge. I do have USB-C and I use it to connect things all the time, but I see no advantage to charge a 1.5 W device with the USB-C where a lightning would work just as well.

I am in no rush upgrade devices simply because I have a need to only have one cable. Who uses just one cable, I’m currently charging three devices and I have three different cables. Imagine that.

I cannot believe Apple still has not created a black-keys magic keyboard version without the numpad. Insane.

The worst thing about the MacBooks is the black keys - if only they could make PBT caps this slim - within 3 days of using them they're ruined. I'm surprised Apple have thrown their considerable weight behind coming up with some kind of unique compound mixture that rivals PBT but in a slim form factor.

As they can't the white hold up much better (well, they don't you just can't see it!)

TIL that Apple sells a Magic Keyboard without Touch ID. Whats the purpose there, just for a lower price point?
