That is one thing i agree with some of you. They should give the app devs enough time before any rollouts to start doing any necessary updates. Being this secret can get kind of ridiculous. Especially with the leaks etc. It is not like they are going to surprise anyone when they make these announcements. Plus they don't normally do wholesale changes. Its usually a few minor changes to the OS and phone itself. This year was an exception with the screen size. But with only doing minor tweaks, it would make no sense to give devs a heads up if they do need to make any changes to their existing apps.
simple fact that iOS by design of its layouts are encorage to use pixel set up (x,y coordinates) for lay outs and apps is just bad design end of story. It should be relative set up. This allows things to scale a lot better. Apple's set up causes problems with its current set up.
Yes using coordinate system is easier to make things look good but comes at a heavy price as soon as you increase resolution you have problems.
Remember when Apple went to retina display they did not change the x,y coordinate system. It still has the same number as points as original. Now apple is paying the price for encouraging those bad design standards.

um, what the hell are you talking about?
From day 1, autoresizing masks have allowed relative (to the screen) placement of the various objects.
With iOS6, autolayouts allows for relative coordinate, in relation to any other object on the screen.
Nobody has ever been encouraged to only used hard coordinates, without the use of resizing masks.
