People will complain if Apple releases it buggy

People will also complain if Apple doesn't release it with iOS 17.0

Summary: people will complain.
Better to have them fully flesh out than a subpar or rushed released.

There were a lot of features delayed during initial iOS 16 release

... and iOS 16 was still buggy as hell

... even months after it was released and patched

Like with iOS 16, iOS 17 will be buggy regardless if features are delayed or not.

Honestly, does ANYONE care about the JOURNAL APP? I’m hoping it just won’t be available at launch, and then they will just quietly abandon it.

Anyone remember CLIPS?
Yes, honestly, I think it's brilliant. But again I am Stoic user, so this is nothing new to me except it's nice I don't have to pay for 3rd party Apps anymore.

I will use all 3 of these features but it’s not like I’m in a big hurry. I think the journal app will be especially useful for travels to help tie together everything you do. The collaborative playlist seems like it should have been implemented years ago. Airdrop works fine for me but this sounds like a nice upgrade.

Apple insist on holding to these arbitrary annual release cycles. They then fail to meet their own announced feature set and also manage to release poorly QA'd software anyway. If they weren't trying to lock new software features behind new hardware they could quite easily stagger these releases and get the hype back up for both hardware and software.

Everybody in the comments talking about the “Journal” app. Meanwhile, the “Collaborative Playlists” feature, was supposed to be added years ago (don’t remember which iOS)… they still can’t get it to work.

Android 14 is rumored to get an app cloning feature that lets you create additional instances of any given app, so that for example you can be logged into different accounts at the same time. Now that would be a super useful feature! Of course, Apple would have to sort out how to handle app-specific iCloud sync, but that shouldn’t be a show stopper.
The code is there but none of it is enabled so likely won't be part of Android 14. Much like the Desktop mode that's been in Android since like 11 or 12 that never really been finished but on occasion small changes are made to it. Even Apps that do clone others on Android have issues with many types of apps cloning properly, like Microsoft's Office Apps are VERY hard to clone and still work.

outch. ios 17 doesn't have everything perfect. just buy a android and complain. 99% of us are fine with it...

Eh, I don't care about any of these. I don't journal, plus there are apps for that already. Also I'm not looking to collaborate with anyone on apple music. I don't care for airdrop-ing something to someone via the internet.

Looks like more new “features” that I’ll have to make sure are turned off. I don’t think Apple even knows what to do with the iPhone and iPad anymore. I have a suggestion: Iterate less often and work out the bugs. I don’t think there is a single new feature that’s been introduced in the past two or three years that I use. Hey, here’s another idea: Allow us to delete or fully deactivate the App Library.

It was never supposed to come out. They only ever introduced a way to share a playlist publicly, not collaborate on one with friends.
