On top of the point that has been made a million times that this is not how it works, I am curious where you live that equips ever patrol car with a cellbrite unit, given how much they cost.
I’m curious where they live that the cops would have any idea how to use a celebrite? All the ones I’ve encountered can’t operate a calculator.

A feature that is 100% useless as based on my experience, no agency, no business or no one accepts it as a proper ID.
This has less to do with businesses accepting digital identification and more to do with conditioning people having digital identification and to be surveilled 24/7.

Governments abhor the idea of privacy and view people as cog in the system and not as an individual.

Almost every U.S. airport (I cannot find a list of any that do not, but cannot say every one does) does, as well as law enforcement in several states. The more people that enroll, the faster states will make it a first class replacement for physical licenses.
"Given that Apple Wallet IDs are not accepted by law enforcement, and lack many other use cases, carrying a physical ID is still necessary."

Makes this feature entirely useless imo.

I think many people are thinking of a scenario like a traffic stop where the officer will ask for license, registration, and proof of insurance. In my experience the officer then takes those documents back to their vehicle to run it through their systems. That's the scenario where it makes no sense to use a digital license in the wallet app. Having both digital and physical options makes sense to me, depending on the situation.

There are no new states in this article. No adoption or planned adoption has changed. I just don't think this is going to achieve critical mass. It's just too late. States that don't offer it see no incentive to do so. And until you have 100% of states available, businesses aren't going to get on board with accepting it at all. Why would they add digital identity readers to every register across the country when they can just train cashiers to look at a license or scan the barcode on the back with their existing scan guns? FedEx requires a physical ID to ship a package or pick up a hold and I don't see them accepting digital any time in the next 10+ years. So, like all things in life... What's In It For Me? The lack of penetration causes everyone who wants to use it to have to keep their physical ID on them at all times as well, so it is needless redundancy. It's a cool tech experiment, but not enough value for an end user.
