He didn't quit his job at NASA to run a coffee shopSeriously, anyone with a functioning brain and basic map reading skills can tell you otherwise.
Sure, their front doors share a wall and are about 15 feet apart, but WHO could have known?

I hope they don’t Apple Steals billions from people each year & they have insuranceHope they catch the thieves. Shouldn't been able to achieve that, just cutting a hole through the wall.
But Apple is not necessarily tracking the thieves, per se, just the iPhones themselvesUnless the thieves activate the phones then agree to the terms of service, that would merit a Darwin Award entry. Come on guys, critical thinking they are nonactivated owned by Apple.
Definitely was — from-inside-the-coffee-shop job.To me, it most definately seems like it's an inside job. Everything is pretty much caught on the surveillance video.![]()
iPhone redemption. It's like an alternate reality (and awful) Ocean's 11.
...thieves broke into Seattle Coffee Gear, went into the bathroom, and cut a hole in the wall to get to the Apple Store backroom.
If the hole leads directly into the Apple store's storage room as the summary suggests:I'm pretty sure these iPhones are traceable and they do become useless once stolen (Serial #, IMEI #, etc). But how can someone carry almost 500 iPhones? That's the main question!
The theif/thieves will know that they'll be activation locked, but the buyer won't if they're sold on Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, sent overseas, etc.Stealing iPhones seems dumb because they're only worth the parts value (they'll be locked from activating), and you're definitely going to get caught.
You're not thinking like a thief. They didn't steal 500 iPhones to use themselves. They'll either be selling them to unsuspecting buyers (craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, etc) or stripping them for parts.Incredibly stupid. They got absolutely nothing. Apple can just flip a switch and all of those phones are disabled and worthless.
I think they did it to send a message. Although a tidy workspace may have been a more effective way to prove they could do a stand-up job…I hate the fact they left the 🚽 Toilet Seat wide open. No consideration! They could have closed it. 😭😭

AirPods Find My is nearly useless. I have an AirTag connected to my AirPods if that tells you anything (other than the fact that Apple got extra money out of me)And it works as well as it does when my AirPods are in my pocket and Find My is telling me I left them behind, then disables itself.
"I would have never suspected we were adjacent to the Apple Store, how it wraps around I mean”
Never?
“So, someone really had to think it out and have access to the mall layout."
I have access to the mall layout.

I would agree. To me, it most definately seems like it's an inside job. Everything is pretty much caught on the surveillance video.![]()
Yes, but that only hurts the end user - who likely had nothing to do with the theft or any knowledge that they are purchasing a stolen phone. It doesn't hurt the thieves at all.Can Apple just lock these phones so they can't be used?
