I wish that when I went to network settings there was still an option to turn 3G off and use EDGE. Now it just turn all data off and all you can do is text and place phone calls. EDGE saved battery power. iPhone 4 had the ability to turn 3G off. I am not sure if this is just iPhone 4S or just a iOS 5 in general change.

Not all iPhones 4's have that option. Only the GSM iPhone 4 could do it, but the CDMA version cannot.

It's not specific to iOS 5, it's specific to CDMA. And now that the iPhone 4s is both CDMA and GSM, out the option goes.

What sucks is that I get 1-2 bars sometimes in my house. I tend to switch it to EDGE because call quality is crappy w/ low bars. I wish it would just switch automatically after constant low bars.
