iPhone 11 Pro Think Pro Motion on 12 Pro Max is coming?

Where are y'all at that you don't have access to a charger?

I have them at home, in the car, at work. Battery life has never been a pressing issue. There's always a charger or a plug nearby.

Leaks say the hardware is there and the plan is for ProMotion in this release of the Pro models, but the decision isn’t final because of battery life concerns. If the battery takes too much of a hit, you all know there will be bloody hell raised on this forum and with reviews in general. Apple has only recently satisfied most of their customers’ concerns over battery life, so to go backwards now would be unacceptable.

If it makes it in, great, but not if I have to take a battery life hit. That’s more important to me. I have no issues with my non-ProMotion 11 Max as it is now.

There is always the 13 Pro Motion Max with better battery optimization. No one will buy 12 Pro Max though for 1100 when others have OLED at a way cheaper price for just a camera though.

battery life should be a priority before any newer feature

11 Pro Max lasts all day and change so it should be fine

It's hard to say if you would notice the difference, there was a comment above yours that someone mentioned they did not see the benefit of 120Hz on their iPad Pro and disabled it. However for me I see the difference when I used the Galaxy S20 and iPad Pro and am excited for it to be (possibly) on the new iPhone Pro models.

It would probably be best to check it out in person at an Apple or retail wireless store to see if it provides any benefits to you, that would be the only way to tell if you would appreciate it or not.

I have I Pad Pros, I know it is a difference

The "others" aren't Apple, so I don't care.

I will be that some one who buys the 12 Pro Max because I meant what I wrote when I stated that Pro Motion on the iPhone 12 Pro/Pro Max isn't a deal breaker for me. There is more to a smartphone than just OLED. If that was all I was looking for, I could have had a Samsung years ago.

To be succinct, I'm invested into the Apple ecosystem - iOS, iPadOS, AND macOS. I don't like small phones - I refused to get an iPhone until the 6 Plus was introduced and all of my iPhones since have been Plus/Max size. And I do care about the camera as I always have since I like to take pictures in general and when I travel and (pre-pandemic) I travelled a lot.

If it's about cost vs specs for you, that's fine. We all have criteria for our purchases. Hopefully there is a smartphone product that meets your specific needs.

Same I am also in the ecosystem

Think it depends on the hit and how much. I mean apple are said to be putting in a 4400 battery i mean why do that if they aren’t confident they can get this to work fine?

The 12 pro max will sell fine even without pro motion/120hz because there’s a set percent of the population who just want the biggest iPhone. I think it’d be difficult to justify an extra 250-300 for the 6.1 inch 12 pro however purely off stainless steel, lidar/telephoto, and maybe a little bit better battery life. I guess Apple might really gimp these BOE displays on the standard 12s compared to the pro models with their Samsung ones so the display could still be a selling point.

I think there will be a considerable number of people that will be upset with even 1 hour loss of battery life from the 11 Pros. The latest version must always be better than the previous version in every way, otherwise why bother? - That's the general sentiment that is often stated.

Yeah that’s why with a 4400 battery they may decide not to release pro motion because they don’t believe the battery will be the same.

they could easily release pro motion with 5G on 4400 and be acceptable but guessing acceptable isn’t apple’s standards.

No, I don’t see it coming this year. I believe it’ll come next year when the LTPO screens are ready for the iPhone.

Apple wasn’t ready for prime time this year with the IPad or Iphone

Wanted- IPad Mini Led
Iphone Pro Motion

Left empty handed

Well they are testing now on the iphone 12 pros so for them to have placed 120hz panels orders they must have felt confident they could figure it out. I guess we will see soon enough.

with basically all other smartphones having 120hz it would be a shame not to see it on this years models certainly with how good some of the features are expected to be this year.

Reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in December than an iPad Pro model with the new screen would debut this year, likely alongside the iPhone 12 series.

Jon Prosser said this was never going to happen even before corona virus outbreak.

2021 was always the date planned. Kuo has often got his timelines wrong on dates like this.

I often switch from the iPad Pro to the iPhone and i never notice that it is missing...
So it's very low on my priority list.

I have 11 Pro paid in full. I hope the Pro Motion rumors on the 12 Pro Max are true. I see it as a upgrade worth making. Also wondering what people normally get for a phone from previous years.

If Apple copies Android phones correctly, it will have Promotion 2.0 were you can select which framerate you want (more battery life vs 120hz)

That’s dynamic refresh rate, and the iPad Pro has it since 2017, so I’m sure we will see it on the iPhone

Having to turn things off or tune things down to get decent battery life is "doing it wrong" in my book. Especially when they are supposed to be one of the new key features.

I hope they add it to the larger phone. They're adding another 500mah to the battery and using Qualcomm's 3rd generation 5G chip so the power efficiency should be much improved over the X50. Think I read that the X60 was 15% more efficient than the X55. Not sure the difference between the X50 and X60.

Pro motion update from everythingapplepro

pro motion passed the first set of tests and due to some talk within apple if pro motion is to be added they will likely need to release the pros in october/November. So it’s looking like pro motion is on track to be released on the pro models.
