battery life should be a priority before any newer feature
Leaks say the hardware is there and the plan is for ProMotion in this release of the Pro models, but the decision isn’t final because of battery life concerns. If the battery takes too much of a hit, you all know there will be bloody hell raised on this forum and with reviews in general. Apple has only recently satisfied most of their customers’ concerns over battery life, so to go backwards now would be unacceptable.
If it makes it in, great, but not if I have to take a battery life hit. That’s more important to me. I have no issues with my non-ProMotion 11 Max as it is now.

It's hard to say if you would notice the difference, there was a comment above yours that someone mentioned they did not see the benefit of 120Hz on their iPad Pro and disabled it. However for me I see the difference when I used the Galaxy S20 and iPad Pro and am excited for it to be (possibly) on the new iPhone Pro models.
It would probably be best to check it out in person at an Apple or retail wireless store to see if it provides any benefits to you, that would be the only way to tell if you would appreciate it or not.
There is always the 13 Pro Motion Max with better battery optimization. No one will buy 12 Pro Max though for 1100 when others have OLED at a way cheaper price for just a camera though.
11 Pro Max lasts all day and change so it should be fine
The "others" aren't Apple, so I don't care.
I will be that some one who buys the 12 Pro Max because I meant what I wrote when I stated that Pro Motion on the iPhone 12 Pro/Pro Max isn't a deal breaker for me. There is more to a smartphone than just OLED. If that was all I was looking for, I could have had a Samsung years ago.
To be succinct, I'm invested into the Apple ecosystem - iOS, iPadOS, AND macOS. I don't like small phones - I refused to get an iPhone until the 6 Plus was introduced and all of my iPhones since have been Plus/Max size. And I do care about the camera as I always have since I like to take pictures in general and when I travel and (pre-pandemic) I travelled a lot.
If it's about cost vs specs for you, that's fine. We all have criteria for our purchases. Hopefully there is a smartphone product that meets your specific needs.
Think it depends on the hit and how much. I mean apple are said to be putting in a 4400 battery i mean why do that if they aren’t confident they can get this to work fine?Leaks say the hardware is there and the plan is for ProMotion in this release of the Pro models, but the decision isn’t final because of battery life concerns. Yeah that’s why with a 4400 battery they may decide not to release pro motion because they don’t believe the battery will be the same.I think there will be a considerable number of people that will be upset with even 1 hour loss of battery life from the 11 Pros. The latest version must always be better than the previous version in every way, otherwise why bother? - That's the general sentiment that is often stated.
No, I don’t see it coming this year. I believe it’ll come next year when the LTPO screens are ready for the iPhone.

Well they are testing now on the iphone 12 pros so for them to have placed 120hz panels orders they must have felt confident they could figure it out. I guess we will see soon enough. No, I don’t see it coming this year. I believe it’ll come next year when the LTPO screens are ready for the iPhone.

Apple to use mini LED backlighting in late 2020 iPad Pro
Doubling down on previous reports, supply chain sources say that Apple plans to move to using mini LED display technology in its next iPad Pro, due in the fourth quarter of 2020.appleinsider.com
Reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in December than an iPad Pro model with the new screen would debut this year, likely alongside the iPhone 12 series.
True but the newer phones are larger and have a more power efficient processor. The ToF sensor and mmWave antennas will take additional space.
I have 11 Pro paid in full. I hope the Pro Motion rumors on the 12 Pro Max are true. I see it as a upgrade worth making. Also wondering what people normally get for a phone from previous years.
If Apple copies Android phones correctly, it will have Promotion 2.0 were you can select which framerate you want (more battery life vs 120hz)
