Get the stainless steel model with the sport band and then you don't have to worry about buying screen protectors. For day to day minor scratches, the steel case can be easily polished by hand using any number of polishes or jewelers cloths as opposed to the aluminum case on the Sport which gas an anodized matte finish and cannot be "refinished" at home.

Then I recommend getting a set of $15 strap adapters and using aftermarket straps and bracelets. You'll save a ton of money and have the ability to easily change the look of the watch. The Apple straps are nice but too expensive for what they are.

Definitely. I saw a lot of great looking after market straps for thee watch. Do you think over time the $550 would be worth it because it is SS?

...this is really making me want to just purchase it right now. Part of me wants to wait till the craze dies down and it ships faster, but who knows how long that will be?
I don't know about the US but in Europe, most of the models ship in 5-7 days depending on the model ofc. Which one would you like to buy? Have you looked up the estimated shipping dates recently? Just select a watch in the Online Apple Store and it tells you.

I think not having to worry about screen protectors and being able to easily buff out the SS case at home more than make it worthwhile to spend the little extra. Plus the polished steel case will match so many more aftermarket bracelets and strap buckles than anodized matte aluminum.

Lol despite what others here are spouting I don't consider the watch to be a beta product (unless you worked in a technical fashion you guys haven't seen 'beta' yet :) )

It does everything it's advertised to do plus surprised me with its battery life. The only way to learn and appreciate the product is to buy in, those are the prices apple has set.

I have a cool use case for the watch. My son had a birthday party and of course these days, instead on making a playlist from purchased tracks, we used an iTunes radio station and streamed it through the house using the Laptop and Airplay. Now, you can't always be sure what type of song would come up, so whenever an offensive song started playing, I just surreptitiously used the remote on my watch to forward to the next song. I did not have to run across the room frantically trying to change it.

I have both the SG and SS. I find myself always watching what I do while wearing the SG. I know the body and screen aren't to the same level as the SS. So for the last few days I've been using the SS without any extra babying. So far it's been good. The price difference was more than I initially wanted to spend, but if the screen on the SG was damaged or body was scratched I would be upset. SS makes it harder to do, but it still can be done. Normally I'm not a SS kind of guy. But with this I might just be. I still have an attraction to SG because of the all darker look, but it's hard to go freely with it. I understand peoples desire not to go all out with a fist gen product, but you do get what you pay for here. If SG came with a sapphire screen, I'd be using that instead. Unless the SS was offered in brushed metal. :) My personal favorite.

That is true.. I love Apple because of the simplicity of everything and quality of their products. They're built to last.

Btw, are how many holes are there on the Sport Band? I have a tiny wrist (I had to get quite a few links taken off on my Seiko) so I'm hoping there are quite a few so I can have a snug fit.

I completely disagree with this. My watch is excellent. Works very well and is very usable. OS2 is very much anticipated, but I'm very happy to use it as it is. And nothing "just works perfectly".

Based upon your comments, I suspect you really don't understand what the watch is and can do. Please do some more research on it. Thanks.
This has pretty much been my experience. When I bought the watch I wasn't sure how much I'd use it and if I'd even continue to use it. As a first generation product I lowered my expectations and have been pleasantly surprised. It's a lot more stable than I imagined it would be and the battery life is a lot better too. I'm looking forward to the enhancements that are coming with OS 2. However right now it does what it says on the tin. I've had it since launch day and I've worn it everyday. I only take it off when I'm sleeping, showering or doing the washing up.

There are 7 holes. I have teeny wrists - I buy children bracelets as adult ones just fall off. I have a sports band and I have it on the second tightest hole and it is fine. I also have a Milanese Loop band which is great because you can position the magnetic catch so that the band is really tight. I have a SS watch and it has not deteriorated in any way...I have had it since 24 April and have not babied it - only thing I do not do is wear bracelets on that arm as I think they would bang against the watch and scratch it.

That's great to hear! I'm guessing you're using the small band also, right?

I've only had mine for 2 days but I love it so far. I found it very easy to set up and, as opposed to what has been reported, I find it relatively intuitive. I bought the 42 mm sport in space grey. I will get a leather loop band for those few occasions when I need something more "stylish" but I like the rubber band fine right now.
I love not having to worry whether I have my phone with me when I am hanging around my house. Siri has worked pretty much flawlessly the few times I've used it and the voice recognition for messages has been very good.
I am only a casual bicycle rider but I go for a 30-45 minute ride daily and it accurately records my miles, time etc. It doesn't bother me that my phone is needed for milage because I wouldn't go on a ride without it anyway. I also like the convenience of bluetooth headphones with the watch when I don't have my phone and am outside in the garden.
I find it incredibly convenient to not have to pull out my phone to see who texted me or who is calling.
It's a "nice to have" but not a "need to have" device but it's better than I expected. I am retired so I don't get as many notifications as I did when I was working but, to me, it's a great device thus far.
I have no idea why so many nit pick its perceived deficits.

That's what I would have said on my 2nd day of owning the watch. After a month, all the little things start being more annoying. My biggest issues are the activity tracking not registering exercise (they really need to have a way to set intensity levels, so those of us who are not fit can also get some exercise minutes in) and third party apps being too slow to be actually useful. I know third party apps should get better with watchOS2, so I'm looking forward to that.

Yes, the small band. Because you tuck one end in under the strap, it actually makes your wrist a bit fatter and so the band will fit a very small wrist. The sports band is very comfortable - I do not know I have it on. Go for it!!

I just ordered it!! Sucks I have to wait till June 29th-Jul 1st for delivery.. oh well

Yay! Congratulations! Which one did you get?

Apple is being very conservative with their delivery windows, so you *might* get it early.

The 38MM Sport with Blue Sport Band. I'm hoping so! It already says preparing for shipment so I'm crossing my fingers.

Btw, I measured my wrist and it seems like it's 5 inches, and 130MM is the minimum the Sport Edition fits, will I be good to go?

If it is preparing for shipment, it'll likely get to you in a day or two.

As for wrist size, you might need to use the last hole, but you should be fine.

Wow, I definitely didn't expect it to be this fast especially since it said delivers between the 29th and July 1st, but I chatted with apple and they told me it should be leaving the warehouse on Monday.

I'm glad Apple added a lot of choices for sizes because me having a small wrist it's hard to find the right one that'll fit well.

Yes, the 38mm do seem to be shipping fast.

I have small wrists too. Interesting enough, the sports band fits very snugly on my right wrist using the last hole, but my left wrist is inbeteeeen the last two holes. Too tight if I use the last hole but slides around a bit on the next to last hole. So the watch is more comfortable on my right wrist, but I'm right handed, so in order to manipulate the watch, I need it on my left wrist. I end up swapping the watch between my two wrists depending on how I feel.

Anyway, hope the band fits you well, and enjoy the watch!

Finally going to looks at the watch today.

I have no problems with generation 1 products - my gen 1 iPod, iPhone, iPad and MacBook Air were all excellent products and served me really well.

I'm not sure what Apple are going to make of my seven year old aspie son. He's looking forward to meeting Tim (don't ask!) and has a list of suggestions with potential version numbers they should be introduced under.

The band is quite comfortable. The problem is the weight of the watch -- I find that it feels heavy unless it is fit snugly against my wrist. Because the second to last hole leaves it a bit loose, the watch starts feeling heavy after a while, which gets tiring, so I switch it to my right arm.

I'm looking forward to future watches getting lighter! :p
