Eh?

"that much of a problem". Where exactly did I make them out to be so bad? Oh, that's right I didn't. I just said you he wouldn't have to ever be concerned about them and that's because it's a flat screen. If I had said "don't buy one the the glossy screen will forever drive you nuts and you'll end up smashing the screen to bits with your bare fist. In a week" then a comment like yours would have been appropriate?, but instead it's just a waste of god damn time even bothering to respond to. Sheesh.

Then why did you respond man? And i was simply asking a question, no need to come down that hard on me. I suggest you figure what exactly your problem is and try to fix it.

This topic is not meant to 'fight' , so if you wanna respond rather send me a pm thab replying to this topic. Calm down man. Lol.

dude get the imac, a dock would make it easier for you and the keyboards have usb ports in the side, so you wouldn;t need to go round the back of the imac anyways

I looked at the wireless numeric-less keyboard that is standard with the iMac now, and I don't see any USB ports from the pictures. Is that true? Do I have to get the full numberic keyboard?

You might be right. The area where the USB ports are on the wired keyboards is probably the place were you put the batteries for the wireless version. Both the wired mini and full numerical keyboards have USB ports.

So if you want the mini keyboard with USB ports then it's available: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB869LL/A?fnode=MTY1NDA1Mg&mco=MTA4Mzc5NDY

I looked in an Apple Store today. I saw the 21.5'' inch iMac and the 27''. I do really like the big screen. It seems that is what I am locked onto buying. The only problem is they didn't have any quad core samples that I could look at. I do want quad core for futureproof.
But I don't have the money now. My parents think it would be better for graduation. I just want it now as I am obsessed with it. Nice machine, Man, Nice Machine! I don't know what to do.

I would just like to give my thoughts on futureproofing:
It really doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Say for example you bought the highest iMac two years ago, that's $2,198. Chances are, the low-end iMac could have performed most of the tasks over the past two years and it would cost half that. The new base model iMac is definitely faster then the one you would have bought two years ago.
Just something to think about.

Yeah, I guess. It would work for my needs. This just popped into my head, but I am concerned about if technology changes and things don't work for the core 2 duo iMac. I prolly need additional info on this statement or just flame me for saying this (help me out, lol!)
At the same time, I looked at the 21.5'' and liked it. Then I looked at the 27'' and was like I like this even better. I just want the bigger screen now.

They still make apps for pentium 3 computers it will be a long long time before dual core is dropped. Only thing that makes me nervous is USB 3.0 hate having a new machine with dated ports.

Ive got another question to ask. I currently have a 2007 black macbook (first mac computer). It is 2.2 ghz, 2 gb of RAM, 160 gb of hard drive and x3100 gma graphics.
Now, If I got an iMac, I would be amazed with the speed wouldn't i? This macbook is the best performance computer Ive had in my life. So, would it really matter what iMac I get with what I do (music (iTunes), web-browsing, word documents, maybe power points and movies)?

Would the low end 21.5'' just wow me with the performance level from what I've used? Thanks.

Hey, yep I think you'd be very impressed with the new imacs performance. They are running much faster and will be very nippy compared to your macbook.

As for keyboard i would make a point of getting the wired one, my mate had the wireless version and it was annoying plugging stuff in the back and having to flip the unit round every time. The keyboard USB is a fantastic design feature especially as they are hidden nicely, and you'd save on batteries. I would go wireless on the mouse though, gives you more freedom I feel.

Also I didn't find the glossy too much of a problem as you could move the screen around to compensate, my issue was how bright the screens were. If i was reading in a darker room even the minimum brightness was way too bright, although this was on the previous model (don't know if the new ones are different).

Hope this helps.

oh, so the 21.5'' iMac would be the way to go for me. My budget is tight for me. I would like the quad core for future proof but I like the 21.5'' anyways.

If your blackbook is still preforming well for you, why not drop in 4 GB RAM and a faster HDD... all of which are very cheap now.

Then get yourself a 20 - 24" monitor to hook it up to... if money's tight do you really "need" to buy an iMac right now (you'd save much more $$ this way and increase the speed of your current already setup machine that you seem happy with)?

21.5 inch is pretty big , and very powerfull in my opinion. And that should be enough for you. If you want a new machine , I'd say go for the 21.5 imac , but if you want to carry on with your current setup; get RAM and some sort of screen. I wouldnt suggest the Apple LED Cinema display cause that is quite a budget breaker.

I;m getting the top end iMac next week, can't wait! At the moment I have the iBook G4.
