You should but you should buy more games with it too. WiiSports kinda gets boring after a while.

Super Smash Barwl is awesome so is Mario Galaxy. I say go for it.

save your money

If you like Nintendo then get a DS. I had a Wii for New Years Eve Party and it rocked. After that, I played it maybe one more time in the 3 remaining months I owned it.

I have a PS3 now. Barely play that but it's much more fun.

BTW: awesome Wii Fit Hula hoop video.

do you have a gamecube?? because the wii can play those games better on gamecube.

I still play timesplitters 2 and 3 a lot.

I couldn't find one last friday, a Wii that is, so I basically gave up on looking, and just bought the new 80GB PS3 Metal Gear Solid 4/DualShock 3 bundle today. Most of you people are probably right in that the Wii would get boring fast for the type of gamer I am.

Also the PS3 purchase just gave me the incentive to upgrade my TV, so next month gonna be buying a Sony Bravia KDL-46V4100 and finally step in to the HD era.

Glad to see you made a sensible choice...the wii gets real old real fast if you ask me!

Now...when you get that Sony Bravia....be sure to post piccies *dribbles*

I think that its worth it if you are going to want to be playing it with friends because if you are not, then you might as well not get one, because with games like mario kart, party, etc, they are more fun to play with others rather then by yourself

I love my Wii but I'm also someone who has been using consoles since my Atari 2600 so going back and playing classic NES and SNES games holds a lot of interest for me.

It's a fun and unique system, but as you said, based on your style of gaming, if the PS3 suits it, go for it.

I haven't gotten bored with my Wii yet. Besides, it's silly to keep your gaming on one platform.

I'm not bored either :) spent another 2 hours on Mario Kart today. I'm not that brill (7300 points) but I just love playing it over and over. It's as addictive as Team Fortress 2 (the good PC one, not the console versions!).

Others have already said this, but I'll just say it again since I share the same opinion. If you will be playing with friends, buy it, because it is a lot of fun playing Mario Kart, Brawl, Party, Sports, etc. with many people. By yourself, none of those are really that great. So it all depends on if you plan on gaming alone or with friends.

The Wii would be a great fit for you and your family. The controls and games are simple. You are not trying to take advantage of HD. And you don't want to spend a lot of money. The only negative is some of the games may appear childish depending on the types of genres you like.

I don't advise the Wii for those who want great graphics. The Wii is good for the occasional videogame player.

If you do want to upgrade to an HDTV you may want to rethink your decision because once you see BluRay movies on a 1080p tv along with the power of a PS3 you may regret it or be in for another purchase.

I own all 3 systems. I play the Wii with my fiance and family. The 360 just collects dust. The PS3 for BluRay.

I'm disappointed with the graphics. I also can't seem to get mine to hook into my Airport network for photos either and have given up. I'd save the money personally.

i love my wii... the games are so much fun... for Zelda alone i think it was worth getting... i honestly play the virtual console more than i do the normal games though... anyway, you should buy a wii... you wont be disappointed.

I have experienced it.........

Before i bought the wii i was considering the 360 and the ps3. I went with the wii since i "thought" could play with my whole family and have a great time.
3 weeks in, and heaps of wii bowling later, its neatly packed in the original box and will never be opened again. When you get it, u think, hey i found the most fun console ever, a few weeks in, u get so bored with it, partly because of the expensive games and the limited library.
I bought mario kart wii and mario party 8 with the wii, mario kart wii has zero re playability (trust me). Even when playing online or with friends, the items and such (the bikes and cars are not even unique to each character!!!!!)just ruin the game.
Mario party 8 is lots of fun.......................if u r an 8 yr old!!!
I would never dream of playing such a game when friends or family are around.
Overall, trust me, this is just an over hyped console(do not heed the "wii is outselling all other consoles" BS, stupid ppl like me are just jumping onto the wrong bandwagon), DO NOT WASTE UR MONEY LIKE I DID!!!!!!!
I wish i had bought an xbox or ps3....... With such extensive libraries, they cater to everyone, especially if u have a hdtv, buy one of them!!!!

So it sounds like Mario Party 8 is the right age for you!

Firstly of course Mario Kart Wii has replayability. It comes in the form of unlockable characters and vehicles, a point system for online scores, 32 tracks, 16 players online, fortnightly downloadable challenges... You didn't like the game. Fair enough it's not everyones cup of tea but to say something as silly as having no replayability
Oh and about the exclusive vehicles to characters - each character has their stats. So matching certain characters to certain vehicles has a big impact on the race.
And don't get Mario Party 8. That'd be like me saying that any other bad console game is bad! All systems have bad games too.

BTW, the Wii has more games than the PS3 so that "extensive library" comment isn't true :)

OP- Get Smash Bros Brawl. I got it last week and it's possibly the best thing I've ever played.

I bought one a couple of months ago and played it sparingly. Maybe down the line I'll get into it, but Brawl was meh for me. Wii Sports is fun with others though.

The 360 price is said to be going down to $299 very soon--only $49 off the Wii price. It looks fine on an SDTV from what I've heard, and you can upgrade to an HDTV when you're able to.

Pardon my British, but the Xbox 360 on standard def is pants. Buy a HDTV before you buy a next generation game console, in my humble opinion.
