I am Android at heart, but every fall the lure of the simplicity of iPhone speaks to me.
I am in the market for a new phone.

When you are trying something new it is better to opt for a cheaper option, no? Particularly when there's not much difference between 7 plus and 8 plus. If interested, you can read my post I have written today in another thread.

7 plus is going to exist for 2 more years for sure and after that it will but slow a bit. However, if you are too much into high end gaming, AR games then age will surely show on 7 plus much earlier than 8 plus.

8 is probably closer to what android offers with wireless charging for example, the 7 however gets you greater storage so it depends what you value more. I have enough storage in my 128gb 7 to last me a good few years!

I went for the 32GB version.
I have a 50GB icloud storage for photos, when the phone gets filled up i transfer it over to my pc, where i prefer to see them.

I was gonna get the 7+ but with the price difference being so small, it just makes more sense to go for the 8/8+! I ended up with the 7 because the + phones are too big for my little hands!

Well to update. I came home with a 7 plus and omg I am in love. So much so that I am very much considering exchanging for the 8 plus when one becomes available. I want to keep this thing for years to come!

I tend to buy the last gen iPhone off Swappa and then hang on to it for awhile. I just picked up a 256 GB 7+ matte black in mint condition with AppleCare+ and all accessories for $600. That same set of specs with AC+ with an 8+ would cost over $1100 cash or about $50 a month with IUP (which comes out to $600, same price I paid).

I think the 7+ was a great deal and will serve me well. I’ll own it so I can resell it next year to help fund my next purchase.

If money is not an issue, just get the latest which is the 8 series.

I can't agree with this mindset.

Ignore what you can most afford, and focus on what you most need.

There are people out there using SE's that are neither poor or stupid. They just know not to over consume for negligible benefits.

True. But isn't the jet black really prone to scratching?

Don't do it. I have Jet Black and it's lived in a case and still looks like I rubbed car keys on it. The finish has no durability whatsoever.

I don't need a pristine phone so it doesn't matter to me, but it's something you should consider before you buy.

My jet black was in pristine condition... hardly no scratches. Just a few microscopic ones. I don't understand how these people complain about scratches.

It will last you several years if you want. My boss still uses an iphone 4. You will find iOS sooooooooo much easier and smoother than Android. No comparison.
I'm using my old iPhone 4 until my 8 Plus arrives these days. Sold my old 6s Plus this monday.
Damn this phone is slow. I don't know how your boss can manage :)

If you want to go with 7+ now, go with used ones. Brand new 7+ are barely $50 cheaper at Apple store although has more storage but still. I wish Apple slashes new 7+ price by at least $200 after releasing the 8.

Hats off to you on this. If I only had the patience! I did this with the new iPad Pro, got a killer deal on swappa allowing me to upgrade from the original for very little after reselling my original.

If I only had the patience, I’d do this in 2 months when original 8 Plus owners upgrade to the X, be an easy way to save 200-300 off the 8 Plus (my guess anyway).

Side note, aren’t those matte black 7 Pluses beautiful devices? I really like the matte black. Had the Jet Black for a while but feel the matte black is better.

Especially given that iPhones are meant to be used Day in and day out, If A scratch happens on an iPhone, I look at it like he gives it character and it's a used device as it is when you go to sell it no matter if it has scratches or not.
