When i first got the phone it was freaking huge. It was more apparent with the defender case on it. I have been rocking it with an apple silicone case and it now feels like the perfect size. I couldnt imagine having anything smaller for a screen.

Couldn't agree more with the silicone case. Definitely helps make the 6 plus more manageable.

I dont know what you folks do with your phone that you can kill the battery in less than a day.

I am on my phone (iphone 6) a lot. Playing stored music some, streaming pandora some, and a LOT of web surfing and email checking for both work emails via an app and for multiple personal email accounts via the iphones built in email app. And I can almost always go 2 full days before getting in the 10-15%

safari

When I'm home having a lazy Sunday, I usually drain it in about 14 hours. I've been using this more than my iPad now.

Finally pulled the trigger and did this myself.

1) I have noticed a difference in battery, but not anything crazy. More than anything else, you will probably just be paranoid about your battery life if you switch.

2) I have had the 6 for 2 weeks now and as much as I loved the 6+ screen, the phone itself was just too big and unwieldy. The other major reason for my switch was an upgrade in storage - I went from 16Gb on the Plus to 128 on the 6 (now that iCloud/photos are improving).

Another big factor was the case issue... I used the leather case from Apple and that was nice and small on the Plus, but anything with more strength/protective abilities made the phone way too big. I am looking at purchasing a waterproof case (Lifeproof or Lunatic Aquatik) but those would look ridiculous on a Plus, IMO.

I come from being an Apple Newton aficionado. Also I still use an HP programmable business calculator. 6 plus is smaller than Newton and the same width as the HP. I'm okay with it. I'm on the 6 plus constantly as my "micro tablet" plus I can make calls.

I'm thinking about going from the 6+ to the 6. I like to be able to reach the entire screen with my thumb and I just can't do that with the 6+ without feeling like I'm going to drop it. Not being able to his the "123" key to get to the numbers drives me nuts. Too bad Altkeyboard wasn't updated.

I have a week to decide. I bought an Otterbox Defender and Commuter for my 6+... looks like I'd have to put them on eBay for cheap.

I wonder if Verizon would charge me a restocking fee...?

It doesn't really matter, as I plug it in every single night when I go to sleep and I'm usually between 60-80% battery left with full brightness. By the time the battery is worn out, the phone will be long gone.

Note however though that I find there is more to life than spending every waking moment glued to my phone screen - if I'm out, I'm doing something more important than staring at a little phone screen, and if I'm at home, I've got better tools to use to look at stuff than a little phone screen. Therefore I'm not a power user, and could probably last 3-4 days on a charge with no issue whatsoever.

If you are the kind of person glued to your phone all day, I still think it'd be somewhat tough to kill the battery though.

I do agree with you wholeheartedly its just funny because you're talking about not spending too much time looking at a screen but you have like 10 electronic little screened devices listed in your signature. :D

To OP, ultimately do what you want. I felt the 6+ was just too big for me. I'm also coming from a 3.5" display iPhone 4, so to me the 6 was a perfect increase for me. 4.7" really seems like my personal sweet spot. I can reach everything with ease. Maybe I'll get the + one day, but I rather take baby steps up to a larger display. Battery life is something that I am VERY much into, however my 6 lasts through a full day with mod to heavy use, so battery life on it is more than enough to appease me. I'm sure the 6+ battery is nice however I would charge it daily anyway, so as long as my 6 can get me through an entire day (which it does) thats fine.

Either choice, it's a great phone, so let that make your decision easier.

I've actually gotten fairly comfortable holding the 6+ (owned for 2 months now) but I always feel it in my front pocket which is starting to bother me.

Honestly I would give it another couple of months... I always "noticed" the 6+ in my pocket the first few months compared to my 5, but I stopped "noticing" it in the last month or so. Partly I think because I am much more sensitive to dropping or damaging (or yes bending!) a new phone. But after a while it has become second nature to me.

I like my 6 a lot, but the battery life is the one thing that is tempting me to keep the 6 plus I have used for a week. You can do anything on it during the day and it seems like the battery will last at least a day. If I decide to return the 6 plus, I'll definitely miss the battery life.

Well, I'm back here to eat some crow and admit it: I was wrong about the 6 Plus.

I posted a few weeks back about buying a 6 Plus to try during the 14-day return period. After using it for two days, I decided it wasn't for me and resolved to return the phone and stick with my 6. But, the next morning I decided to try it for one more day. After all, the bigger screen and better battery life were quite nice. And then that day became one more, and then one more, and then two more after that. Somewhere along the way, I realized I had gotten used to the large size of the phone and had subconsciously adjusted my grip to make reaching the buttons easier. I grew to love the bigger screen, and have developed more of an appreciation for the camera on the 6 Plus after using it more. In short, I grew to love this phone after giving it more time.

I still stand by my criticism of the landscape keyboard. It is just not comfortable to use as it is right now. But, my 14-day return period on the 6 Plus ends today and I have decided to keep it. I will definitely miss how perfectly the 6 fits in the hand and how light it is. In the end, the big screen and better battery life of the Plus just won out for me.

Also, for anyone else who is still on the fence, one-handed usage on the Plus has been improved quite a bit by jailbreaking and installing HandyKey and Auxo3. If you are willing to consider jailbreaking your phone, these two tweaks greatly improve the user experience.

I sort of feel the same way. I have about a week left to decide to keep my 6 plus or return it and keep using my 6. I love the battery life and as days have passed, I find myself starting to get used to the size. I can use it to answer and text with one hand, and watching content or doing other things with two hands are fine.

I also love the battery life. It really is insane how I can use it heavily during the day and still have half battery life by the end of the day or more, even playing games or using Maps for directions.

I have no idea if I will keep it, but I definitely will considering getting a 7 plus or 6S plus when the next refresh comes out.

I've had my 6+ since it was released, and honestly, probably a month ago I started regretting getting the 6+. I don't have experience with the battery on the regular 6, the 6+ does last me all day compared to the 5 which I had to charge at work at least once. But the size really has gotten too annoying. Although I can still do most things one handed, I'm just sick of having such a large phone in my pocket, and having to use reachability to get to the top of the screen sometimes. It just annoys me, I kinda feel like having to use reachability disrupts the flow of whatever I am doing on my phone. It's too late for me to go back now, but next time around, I'm definitely going with the regular 6, hopefully they make the screen 5" on the regular model which I think would be the perfect size.

Its all about preference. And more importantly what you use the iPhone for. So don't expect any definitive answer.

I with you there. I'm very happy with my 6, and I was unhappy with my 6+ for the same reasons you noted. But I'm not going to pretend I didn't wish there was something in between. The 4.7" is pretty ideal, but I would happily deal with a slight increase in phone size for a 5" display.

Not trying to troll but I'm also looking to go down from a Note 4 to a S6 Edge. Nothing wrong with the Note 4 but after owning 3 Notes (Note 2, 3 and 4) I want to go back down in size. Need something smaller yet just as powerful as it's big brother.
Trust me. You plus owners are going to see the same thing in a few years if not sooner. I just wish Apple did not gimp the iPhone 6; it's my one negative. I could live with the 1GB of ram and dual core processor but for it not to have a 1080p display and optical image stabilization of the 6 plus is not a good sign. If Samsung can put a 1440 x 2560 display in a 5.1" body Apple should be able to put a 1080x1920 display in a 4.7" body. There is still a market for very high end small phones. Hope that Apple does not continue that difference between the two.

I've always been bothered by size determining quality of specs with devices. I hated that Android phones were getting bigger and bigger, and anything below 4.8" was getting budget specs. I felt like in 2014, the iPhone 6 was one of the only high-end "normal" sized handsets, normal being a relative term obviously.

It has thicker bezels than most Android stuff, but this is actually good for usability and Touch ID. Excessively thin bezels are uncomfortable to me.

My battery hasn't impressed me on me 6+ so far. Probably a tweak I've installed tho.

Yep.

Saw an article yesterday that iphone 6 Plus owners use twice as much data on the average versus 6 owners.

It's all about what one wants to do with their smartphone. Obviously games and video are more immersive on a larger device.

Honestly if they made the next revision a 5" and made it as thick as the iPhone5 which would mean a bigger battery, I'd be perfectly happy.

I have a 6+, I don't think my data usage has changed from having my 5, I use a lot of data, but I don't game at all. Mostly websites, reddit, music, and social media.

I'm a 6+ owner and the thing I love most on this phone is the battery life which is tremendous. But....I'm actually wavering on downsizing to the 6 just due to easier handling and pocket carry. I've actually gotten fairly comfortable holding the 6+ (owned for 2 months now) but I always feel it in my front pocket which is starting to bother me.

Two questions:

(1) For the 6 owners what type of battery life are you getting with the 6?

(2) Any others that have downsized from the 6+ to 6, and are you still happy with it or regret, etc?

Thanks.

(1) I get through an entire day and I'm a moderately heavy user I would say. It really depends on how well you manage it- fetch/push/background app refresh etc.

(1b) I plan on jumping to the 6S+ next since I travel a lot and want even longer battery life.

I have an iPhone 6 and the battery is pretty good. I don't use my phone a TON, but I end the day usually anywhere from 50%-90% depending on the day. Before 8.2 I got about 6 and a half hours on a charge, and now since I updated to 8.2 I average 8 hours. I once got 10 hours on a charge, it's really nice. I typically charge every other day.

I downsized from the 6+ to the 6 and have no regrets. Had the + for about 2 months and couldn't get used to the size when it came to portability. I wear cargo pants for work and the + felt like a brick in my work cargo pants. I work outside and couldn't get used to the + 'swinging' in my cargo pants. Tried a holster but Im not a fan of holsters. Our son wanted a + and his line was eligible for an upgrade so we upgraded his line to a 6 and I gave him my +. Big difference in portability. I'm very comfortable with the 6 in my work cargo pants and it doesn't feel like it's 'swinging'. The screen size is perfect in relation to portability.

If I had a desk job or similar where I wasn't mobile I probably would stick with the + and/or would have never thought about downsizing.

My wife on the other hand keeps her + in her pocket book or purse which works for her. She has a desk job so she keeps her + on her desk and has a dock. A co worker has a 6 in an Otterbox Defender and it's literally a brick to me, I thought it was a +. Since we both work outside he finds it comfortable to use the holster so he keeps his 6 in his back pack. He says it's too big to fit in work cargo pants.

For me and my situations I need a good balance between portability and size. Like I said if I had a desk job or something would be a different story.

I preordered a Galaxy S6, which is intended to replace a Note 4. Going down in size is not a big deal. Pick what works best for your usage.

I personally have a hard time living with phablets.

I've done the round trip! I had a 6 plus, felt it was very cool but maybe too big. Then I got the 6 which is a great phone in it's own right. It felt good in my hands and a little better in my pockets. But I quickly started to realize it was just more of the same. Was it really that much better and different than my 5? In the end I went back to the 6 plus. I decided that if I was going to have a new phone it might as well feel like I got something new and different.

By the way, the "too big" feeling goes away after a short while. The 6 plus is a big phone there's no doubting that. But the awkwardness went away for me. Now it just feels cool. A very useful device when I am away from my computers too!

My Galaxy Note 3 was too big so switched to the iPhone 6, the 6+ would be far too big for me.
